Michael Savage Finds NYC, DC Radio Homes
Syndicated radio talk show host Michael Savage, the conservative gadfly, will be heard in New York City and Washington DC starting next Monday.
Savage, who forged a new syndication deal with Cumulus Media about a month ago after breaking with Talk Radio Network, airs live on 50,000 watt talk station WABC in New York City starting on Monday, December 3, from 9 pm to 11 pm. “The Savage Nation” will also be broadcast by DC’s WMAL on the same schedule.
According to World Net Daily, Savage had this to say about his new NYC and DC radio outlets:
“We in the media are supposed to be the watchdogs over government, not lapdogs. That’s what freedom of speech and freedom of press entails. I take my role seriously and hope to continue to entertain and inform on WABC and WMAL.”
Savage is strong proponent of what he calls “borders, language, and culture.” Apart from his political rants, which can be hard to take at times because of their intensity, he often offers unique life lessons based on his Bronx, NY, childhood or his everyday encounters in San Francisco. With a PhD in nutritional ethnomedicine, Savage often expounds on holistic health and nutrition too.
Michael Savage pulls in big ratings on the radio and over the internet. But he freely admits that he became a talk show host because affirmative action polices blocked him from obtaining a job as a college professor.
Laura Ingraham, another conservative talker (who was a former law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas), just parted ways with Talk Radio Network, but — like Savage — will likely reemerge via another distributor very soon.
