Rihanna Reigns With #1 Billboard Album For First Time: Rumored Barbados Break With Chris Brown
For the first time in her career Rihanna has stormed to the number one position on Billboard’s album chart.
According to Nielsen Soundscan, Unapologetic conquered the “Billboard 200” album chart after selling 238,000 copies in its first week since its November 19 release.
This is a new first week sales record for Rihanna.
In 2010, her album Loud debuted at number three on Billboard and sold 207,000 in its first week.
The singer’s achievement comes just one week after she nailed her 12th number one in “Billboard’s Hot 100” singles chart with cut of the moment “Diamonds.”
Her seventh album to date (barring two remix albums), Unapologetic’schart topping placing also ends the 24-year-old’s record for having the most number one songs on “Billboard’s Hot 100” without having a No. 1 album.
In other Rihanna news, even though the dust has barely settled on her controversial “777 Tour” and Chris Brown’s Twitter debacle with comedy writer Jenny Johnson, the singer is rumored to be planning a New Year break with Brown in her native Barbados.
According to UK newspaper The Sun, both sets of families will meet up in Barbados in order to ease misgivings Rihanna’s family still have about her reportedly resumed relationship with Brown.
The newspaper quotes a source, saying:
“While no one else can understand it, she’s [Rihanna’s] convinced that Chris is the love of her life and her soulmate and that they’re simply meant to be together.”
The source added,
“She’s booked him and his mum into a five-star villa in Barbados over New Year so they can all get some downtime with her family.”
Reports that the couple attended a Berlin club over Thanksgiving and Rihanna’s recent tweeting of a shirtless image of Brown, has reignited debate about whether the “Diamonds” singer is courting danger in light of Brown’s well documented assault back in 2009.
