Roethlisberger Baby Born: Big Ben Welcomes A Son
A Roethlisberger baby was born this week, giving the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback something to be happy about while he recovers from an injury.
Ben Roethlisberger’s wife, Ashley, gave birth to the baby boy at 10:06 pm on Wednesday, Reuters reported. The Roethlisberger baby was born at a time when dad is ailing and out of the Steelers staring lineup for a spell.
Roethlisberger suffered a shoulder and rib injury that has kept him out of last week’s game and that is expected to keep him out of possibly two more as well.
But that could just mean more time for Roethlisberger to bond with baby Benjanim, which Ben’s official website noted came in weighing 7 lbs and 1 oz when he was born.
“Both mom and baby are doing well,” said Roethlisberger. “We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, it really means a lot to us. God is so good!”
The 30-year-old Roethlisberger married Ashley Harlan, a physician’s assistant, in July 2011. The couple announced in June that Ashley was pregnant, and, in September, Roethlisberger noted that the birth of his baby boy would take precedence over football, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
Roethlisberger’s baby is born to a father who has seen more than his share of success. After being drafted in 2004, Ben Roethlisberger has consistently led the Steelers deep into the playoffs, winning two Super Bowls already. This season the team’s future looks in doubt, as the Steelers are relegated to third-string quarterback Charlie Batch after injuries to both Roethlisberger and backup Byron Leftwich.
