Mayim Bialik will divorce her husband of nine years, according to ABC News . The Big Bang Theory star sited “irreconcilable differences” as the reasons for her split from Michael Stone.
Papers were reportedly filed in court today, which is an unfortunate way for the pair to start the holiday. In an effort to curb rumors, Bialik issued a statement on her official blog .
“The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible,” the actress said. “Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that’s what we are focusing on.”
According to TV Guide , Mayim Bialik wanted her fans to know that her parenting style played no part in the divorce.
“The hands-on style of parenting we practice played no role in the changes that led to this decision; relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose,” she said.
Bialik added, “Our privacy has always been important and is even more so now, and we thank you in advance for respecting it as we negotiate this new terrain.”
Mayim Bialik and Michael Stone have been married since 2003. The couple have two children together, Miles and Frederick.
Although the actress is best known for her roles on The Big Bang Theory and the 90s television series Blossom , Mayim Bialik made waves earlier this year when she revealed she still breastfeeds her four-year-old son.
The actress recently released the book Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way . Bialik, a Doctor of Philosophy, uses the book to describe the “beauty, simplicity, and purposefulness of attachment parenting.”
Mayim Bialik can currently be found portraying the lovably weird Amy Farrah Fowler on the hit comedy The Big Bang Theory . The show airs Thursdays on CBS.
