Yeah Yeah Yeahs New Album Will Be Released In 2013
Reports have emerged that Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to release a new album in the spring of 2013. It will be the follow up to 2009’s It’s Blitz.
Jason Bentley, who hosts the Morning Becomes Eclectic show on the Los Angeles radio station KCRW, stated that the band are aiming to release the album in the ‘springtime’ of 2013. It will be the bands’ third album, after 2003’s Fever To Tell, 2006’s Show Your Bone and the aforementioned 2009 release.
Speaking to the Huffington Post, James Murphy, formerly of LCD Soundsystem, denied that he was producing the album, stating, “I just did a little fun stuff. Nothing really big, I don’t have time and they don’t have time.”
Murphy then added, “I think they’re done with their record now, I was just fussing around. I didn’t make their album. They’re just friends.”
Earlier this year, Karen O, the band’s frontwoman, revealed that she and her bandmates were working on new music together. Speaking to The Sun, O, who worked on the soundtrack for David Fincher’s, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, revealed that she had been ‘tinkering’ around on some new Yeah Yeah Yeahs music with ‘the boys.’
2013 promises to be a busy year for new album releases. Animal Collective and Beck have recently announced that they’re working on new material, which they are both planning to release over the next 12 months. Jimi Hendrix’s estate are also in discussions to create a new album from lost material that was recorded between 1968 and 1969 which should hit shops next summer.
