Susan Boyle’s Album Launch Is Misinterpreted For A Crude Sexual Act
Susan Boyle’s album launch for her new record Standing Ovation: The Greatest Songs From The Stage turned into a laughing stock this morning after a PR blunder saw her Twitter hashtag imply a crude sexual act.
Boyle’s marketing team encouraged fans of the singer to Tweet about her new album under the tag #susanalbumparty, which, if you read closely, can easily be mistaken for an “anal bum party.” Celebrities soon began to register their shock at this error, with Lisa Snowdon tweeting, “I don’t think Susan Boyle’s record company though this hash tag thru properly … #susanalbumparty.”
Other people who commented included @SpiffyTieGuy who stated, “Woke up to #SusAnalBumParty Never laughed so much, so early in the morning. It’s gonna be a good day.” Whilst @TheBashCast added, “The official hashtag for Susan Boyle’s new album is #susanalbumparty. Epic marketing failure people.”
Recently, Boyle spoke of her album, which includes renditions of “Send in the Clowns” and “The Winner Takes It All”, proclaiming, “I have been a fan of musicals since I was a wee girl. I love them and have enjoyed the drama and the range of emotions they inspire in you.”
The Scottish crooner is also set to see her life story turned into a film. Earlier this year, Boyle announced the she’d like to see British screen actress Julie Walters play her in an adaptation. The singer said, “We’re in the middle of negotiations just now for a film about my life. There’s only one person I’d love to play me – and that’s Julie Walters.”
