‘House Of Cards’ Netflix Original Political Drama Gets A Trailer [Video]
In their continuing effort to break into the original programming game to remain competitive, Netflix has launched a trailer for House of Cards, a political drama starring Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey and produced by The Social Network director David Fincher.
According to Laughing Squid, House of Cards is a political drama starring Kevin Spacey as Francis Underwood, the House Majority Whip who is described as “the politician’s politician – masterful, beguiling, charismatic and ruthless.” Robin Wright will play his wife.
The series is described as an “uncompromising exploration of power, ambition and the American way.” In addition to its star power, the show is produced by acclaimed director David Fincher, who directed Fight Club and most recently the American adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher also directed the first two episodes.
We’re happy to see Netflix pulling in such big Hollywood names for original content on a streaming service, a concept that is mostly unproven, especially regarding this level of talent. Netflix’s biggest break in the direction of great original content came when they confirmed they would be exclusively broadcasting a fourth season of the acclaimed television series Arrested Development.
Netflix has also confirmed several other original projects, with Deadline reporting that they have ordered 13-episode orders for Orange Is The New Black and Hemlock Grove.
The first 13 episodes of House of Cards will be available February 1, 2013 on Netflix. Here’s the trailer for the show:
