Wii U Owners May Get ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ After All
Wii U owners who thought they would miss out on Rockstar’s upcoming open world crime epic Grand Theft Auto V might be getting the game after all, according to Ubergizmo.
With all of the news surrounding the latest addition to the popular video game franchise, it’s easy to forget that Wii U owners were left out in the cold. However, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime really wants the game to make an appearance on the company’s latest console.
Files-Aime firmly believes that Rockstar could port the game to the Wii U before all is said and done.
“The folks there have said very nice public comments about the Wii U,” he explained over the weekend. “In the end, it is Nintendo’s responsibility to have a large installed base, to have development tools that help the developers and publishers create great content, and essentially create an environment where teams like Rockstar can bring their very best content to our platform, and if we do that hopefully the very best content throughout the entire industry will show up on Wii U.”
Before planning your Wii U Grand Theft Auto V party, it’s worth noting that nothing has been officially confirmed by Rockstar as of this writing. Game Dynamo points out that Rockstar’s Dan Houser isn’t committing to anything just yet.
“Everything else is up for consideration. That’s all I can give you,” Houser said. “The main thing is we are not … we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.”
Do you think Grand Theft Auto V would be a good fit for the Nintendo Wii U when it arrives on retail shelves next spring?
