Anderson Cooper Finds Time Between Dodging Bombs For Twitter Burn
After his recent near-miss in Gaza on Sunday, Anderson Cooper clearly isn’t afraid of a little confrontation – be it facing down missiles on the streets of Gaza or disgruntled followers on Twitter.
Cooper got into a Twitter scrap with a member of the public after the CNN anchor tweeted about how quickly Hamas was able to move rocket launchers into a location that had just been bombed by IDF forces. The reporter wrote:
4 rockets just fired from near media center in #Gaza City. The same media center bldg hit by three IDF missiles earlier today
A follower by the name of Pamela Weiss didn’t take kindly to what she regarded as selective reporting by Cooper, firing back at the seasoned war correspondent:
@andersoncooper Report a fair story. Report facts. Why not talk about the rockets being fired FROM Gaza?!? #Losingcredibility
Whereas few celebrities bother to respond directly to members of the public on the social media site, Cooper had clearly had a rough day. His response (after digging through Mrs. Weiss’ tweet feed) was cutting:
@Pamela_Weiss perhaps spend less time tweeting about coconut flan and more time actually following the news
In fairness to Weiss, she sportingly laughed off Cooper’s burn, following up with:
@andersoncooper Haha thanks! Sheesh, someone’s just jealous I didn’t save him a slice LOL
Some of Cooper’s own followers were less than sporting with the coconut flan expert, calling her a “moron” and an “ill-informed idiot.” Thankfully, some wise tweeting souls got us back to the really salient point here:
Go easy on her, @andersoncooper . Coconut flan is pretty delicious.
