Wachowskis To Tackle First 3D Film With ‘Jupiter Ascending’
The intricate storytelling of the Wachowskis has been expanded tenfold with their latest release Cloud Atlas. With that said, it doesn’t look like the brother and sister cinema darlings are going to slow down anytime soon. They just announced that their upcoming cinematic pursuit Jupiter Ascending will be their first foray until the 3D world.
The news comes as part of a Warner Bros. deal, which is a plan that they set in motion which allows Warner Bros. to release 20 upcoming films in IMAX theaters over the next three years. This includes the new Wachowskis film Jupiter Ascending.
What’s considered to be an already mind bending plot, Jupiter Ascending centers around “a universe where humans are low in the evolutionary hierarchy.” The story involves a Russian immigrant cleaning lady (Mila Kunis) who is supposedly a kill target by the Queen of the Universe, because her genetic make-up is that of perfection, and therefore threatens the Queen’s rule.
In the Matrix-y esque world, where it’s engineers versus the human race, Channing Tatum plays a bounty hunter set out to put the kill on Kunis’ character, but of course, because she’s Mila Kunis, he ends up falling in love with her instead.
It is said that the Sci-Fi surrealist film is set to begin filming in the beginning of 2013, but with only two cast members set in motion, it seems like it’s a bit premature. As for the 3D technology, there’s no word on whether or not the Wachowskis are set to film is in the native format, but we’re sure it will be visually ambitious either way.
