Justin Bieber Wins Big At American Music Awards
Justin Bieber may not have had a great start to the weekend, but he sure ended it well as the young singer cleaned up at the American Music Awards.
Bieber won the top award of the night, artist of the year, beating out Rihanna, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, and Drake. As The Associated Press noted, Justin Bieber’s mom joined him on stage to share in the award.
“I wanted to thank you for always believing in me,” Bieber said, looking to his mom.
It was the second time that Justin Bieber won artist of the year at the American Music Awards, as he also took home the honor in 2010.
Bieber won the night’s biggest honor and also took home its first. He was named favorite pop/rock male artist, the first award given out. In his acceptance speech, Bieber hit at critics who said he wouldn’t last long.
“I want to say this is for all the haters who thought I was just here for one or two years. I feel like I’m going to be here for a very long time,” he said.
Bieber also won favorite pop/rock album for Believe.
His prolific night at the American Music Awards came at the end of what was otherwise a difficult weekend. Justin Bieber had a reported reunion with his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez. Meeting at a restaurant in New York, the two had a loud fight that caused her to storm out just minutes into the meal and then turn Bieber away when he tried to follow her.
As Radar Online, Justin Bieber was hoping to get back with Selena Gomez in part so he would have a date to the American Music Awards.
