‘Star Wars’ Rumors: Billy Dee Williams May Return
Billy Dee Williams gave a short and sweet answer when asked if he would be interested in returning to the Star Wars universe, according to Slash Film.
As news of the next movie begins to take shape, a number of the franchise’s stars have expressed interest in reprising their respective roles. Enter Billy Dee Williams, the man who famously portrayed Lando Calrissian in Irvin Kershner’s Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. It would seem that Williams is also considering taking a trip back to the far reaches of space.
TMZ recently caught up with the actor in order to ask him about his future plans in the Star Wars universe. Billy Dee Williams gave a short and simple answer that expresses his thoughts on reprising the role of Lando.
“I suppose so,” he said.
Although nothing official has been confirmed regarding who, precisely, would be returning to the franchise, TheForce.net reports that Carrie Fisher has essentially confirmed her participation in future films.
At a recent book signing in New Jersey, the actress and author was asked if she would be reprising her role as Princess Leia in any upcoming Star Wars movies.
“Yes,” she said. “I thought it was already common knowledge.”
Thor and The Avengers co-star Tom Hiddleston has recently revealed that he wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to participate in a Star Wars production at some point in the near future. Even former Dr. Who and Fright Night star David Tennant is interested in joining up.
Rumors about what’s in store for the franchise have been filling forums, social media, and movie-oriented websites. LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy explained that Disney is interested in releasing two or three Star Wars movies per year. That sort of information only adds fuel to the fires of speculation. Right now, it’s anybody’s guess where the series is headed.
