Tom Hardy Signs On For Upcoming ‘Splinter Cell’ Movie
Tom Hardy has reportedly signed on to star in the upcoming Splinter Cell movie, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The Dark Knight Rises star will tackle the role of Sam Fisher in the big screen adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell video game series. Although the film has yet to find a home at a studio as of this writing, Ubisoft is still moving forward with the production.
Deadline reports that The International scribe Eric Warren Singer will handle scripting duties on the Splinter Cell movie. Singer’s screenplay American Bullsh*t is currently being developed by director David O Russell.
Tom Hardy will portray Sam Fisher, the protagonist in the popular video game franchise. The character has appeared in six video games and a handful of novel tie-ins endorsed by author Tom Clancy. Total Recall and Starship Troopers actor Michael Ironside provided the voice of Fisher in the video game series.
Following his acclaimed performances in such motion pictures as The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Tom Hardy has been in high demand as of late. In addition to the upcoming Splinter Cell movie, Hardy will also appear in director George Miller’s highly anticipated Mad Max: Fury Road next year.
Hardy is also slated to star in Doug Liman’s drama Everest, a film which tells the story of a man who attempted the scale the mountain several times during the 1920s. According to Internet Movie Database, the movie is based on author Jeffrey Archer’s book.
Next up for the video game franchise is Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which continues the stealthy adventures of Sam Fisher. The story follows our hero as he attempts to stop a team of terrorists from executing several attacks on United States soil.
