Casey Anthony Allegedly Plans To Plead The Fifth In Civil Trial
Casey Anthony allegedly wants to plead the fifth in a pending civil case. She is mandated to appear in person to face charges in a defamation lawsuit filed against her by Zenaida Gonzalez.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Zenaida Gonzalez is suing Casey Anthony for defamation because the Florida mom reportedly told police officers that a woman with the same name kidnapped her missing daughter, Caylee.
The 26-year-old has supposedly been fighting against the order to show up at the courthouse for the trial. An alleged friend of her brother Lee Anthony claims that is she is forced to take the witness stand, she will plead the fifth. The Radar Online source had this to say about the upcoming Casey Anthony lawsuit:
“Lee will have to testify, but Casey is hoping she’ll find a way out of it. She wants to just show up to court for one day, plead the fifth, and then never have to go back to the courthouse. Casey’s entire family just wants all of this to be over. It’s been three years of hell for them.”
The source also maintains that Anthony’s parents are willing to do “whatever it takes” to get their daughter out of this latest round of trouble. The supposed insider also claims that Casey’s parents are not “adequately prepared” for what will occur if the plan to plead the fifth does not pan out.
Anthony’s attorneys reportedly attempted to argue that it would be unsafe for their client to appear in public. Anger over the death of Caylee is allegedly still running high in Florida. If Casey does not arrive in the court room as ordered when the trial begins in January, she could face criminal contempt charges.
