Peyton Manning Ties Dan Marino’s TD Record
Peyton Manning threw his 420th touchdown today during the Denver Broncos victory over the Carolina Panthers and is now tied with Dan Marino on the all-time touchdown list for quarterbacks.
Manning and Marino are tied in second place on the all-time list with 420 touchdowns each. Brett Farve holds the record with 508 touchdowns.
According to Fan Sided, Manning has a shot at surpassing Farve by the time he calls it quits. Manning lost all of last season due to an injury but recently signed a five year contract with the Broncos. If Manning can stay healthy, he’d only have to throw 18 touchdowns during the next five seasons. Manning already has 20 touchdowns this season and has never thrown less than 26 touchdowns in a season.
Manning has checked off several Marino records throughout his career. In 2004, Manning broke Dan Marino’s single season touchdown recordwhen he put the ball into the end zone 49 times. According to USA Today, the Broncos quarterback broke another Marino record this year when he tallied his 48th 4th quarter comeback victory.
At the time, Manning said:
“I think you have to rely on your fundamentals and techniques… That’s why you treat practice like a game, and you put yourself in those pressure situations during the week. Then, when those fourth quarters come around, you feel like you’re prepared.”
Do you think Peyton Manning will catch Brett Farve on the all-time touchdown list?
