‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ Episode 204: ‘I Am Anne Frank, Part 1’ Recap
This week’s American Horror Story Episode 204 “I Am Anne Frank, Part 1,” didn’t give us any clues as to what is going on with our honeymooning newlyweds and instead launched us right back to 1964 where a new patient arrives at Briarcliff. Caution: Spoilers Ahead.
And right at the start guest star Franka Potente of Run Lola Run and Bourne Identity fame looks like she might give Sister Jude a few problems.
Last week we saw that poor Shelley has been kidnapped by the creepy Dr. Arden. He has been performing some ghastly surgery on her legs after he caught her trying to make an escape during the storm.
This week we see that his horrible experiments have continued and Shelley’s skin is now covered in lesions. Is he trying to turn her into one of the Raspers? Last week we got our first look at those elusive monsters lurking in the woods, and they are pretty disgusting; tough break for Shelley, who puts a lot of stock into her looks.
Kit and Grace continue to foster a friendship. We got to learn more about why she has been locked up in Briarcliff. Could she have been set up for the murder of her father and stepmother? Or is she really guilty of the crimes she has been accused of?
Dr. Thredson tries to convince Lana to let him “cure” her of her homosexuality so she can be released. She is resistant to try, believing it is impossible to cure her of something she has felt all her life. However, after spending too long locked up, she may decide to literally change her mind.
The new patient has taken to writing out what is happening at Briarcliff, which Lana knows is against the rules. Lana tries to warn her, but just then Dr. Arden walks in to the rec-room and suddenly the new patient is enraged.
She attacks Dr. Arden and accuses him of being a Nazi war criminal. Could she be a famous long-lost figure from World War II? And does she know something about the doctor that he’d kill to make sure doesn’t get out?
The past few weeks we have been led to believe that Dr. Thredson believes Kit could be innocent. But he reveals tonight what he really thinks happened between Kit and his wife, and Kit isn’t coming out as clean as viewers thought he would. His suspicions might make Kit doubt himself, but Grace remains a “devoted fan.”
What did you think of tonight’s episode of American Horror Story, “I Am Anne Frank, Part 1”? Do you think the new patient is who she says she is? Will Dr. Arden finally get caught?
