Julio Iglesias, Jr., Weds: Spanish Singer Marries Longtime Girlfriend Charisse Verhaert
Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, Jr., is officially off the market.
According to Fox News Latino, Iglesias, Jr., the 39-year-old son of legendary Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias, tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Belgian model Charisse Verhaert, in a small ceremony in Aldea del Fresno, Spain on Saturday.
While the wedding ceremony itself was off-limits to the media, Fox reports that Verhaert arrived at 3:30 pm in a white Mercedes, while her bridegroom, Julio Iglesias, Jr., showed up 40 minutes later in a green SUV.
Guests of the event included Iglesias, Jr.’s, famous father and his mother, socialite and former journalist Isabel Preysler. Although Julio’s younger brother, superstar singer Enrique Iglesias, could not attend the wedding due to scheduling conflicts, the bride and groom chose Ana Boyer and Iglesias’ half-sister, Tamara Falco, as bridesmaids.
Iglesias, Jr., and Verhaert, 30, had been together for eight years before finally saying “I do” on Saturday. The couple announced their engagement in May 2011.
A model, television personality, and singer, Iglesias, Jr., has appeared on NBC’s Out of the Blue and also worked for the Travel Channel, where he hosted a travel show that took him to Latin America.
In 2008, Iglesias, Jr., was declared the winner of CMT’s competition Gone Country in which artists from other genres of music lived together in a house in Nashville and competed to win a country music contract. His single “The Way I Want You” was released to country radio on March 10, 2008.
The Christian Post points out he has also served in ad campaigns for Versace.
