Report: Romney Campaign Angry About Chris Christie’s Praise Of Obama
The Mitt Romney Campaign is not happy that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie after his praise for President Obama last week. Christie had nothing but praise for Obama after his handling of the Hurricane Sandy disaster lat week according to Politico. Romney and Obama are locked in a race for the President that may be the closest election in years.
Romney insiders told Politico that Christie was originally Romney’s first choice for vice-president. They said that Romney decided that Paul Ryan would be a safer choice after he felt some aspects of Christie’s background would prove to be problematic. Political commentators, including some here at the Inquisitr, are saying that Christie may be positioning himself for a run for the Presidency in 2016 if Romney loses to Obama.
Politico is saying that Christie’s praise for Obama so close to the election could lead to problems between the two if Romney should win the Presidency.
From Politico:
“In typical Christie fashion, there has been nothing understated about his role at each critical point, culminating with his tour with President Barack Obama on Marine One this week as they surveyed Sandy’s havoc along the Jersey Shore. The differences were papered over. Now, some Romney friends and donors are irked by Christie’s embrace of Obama this week, which one referred to as “over the top.”
“If Romney wins, it won’t be forgotten,” the adviser said. “If Romney loses, it doesn’t matter.”
Christie was one of the first politicians to endorse Romney in the campaign. He has campaigned all over the country on Romney’s behalf. Christie was asked if he had asked Romney to visit the state and Christie simply responded:
“If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics, then you don’t know me.”
