Britney Spears In Talks To Write A Novel

Britney Spears has blazed the comeback trail better than most. She has survived a very public breakdown, pictures of her naked in the press, a shaved head and being placed in the custody of her father. Now Britney Spears is back. She has sold more than 100 million records, is a judge on the X Factor and engaged to be married. Now she might be an author too. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Spears in in talks to sign a book deal where she will write a novel.

Representatives for Spears confirmed that she is in talks with It Books, a division of HarperCollins, to sign a deal for a new novel she wants to write. HarperCollins is well known in the industry for being friendly to musicians having released really good autobiographies of Sammy Hagar, The Game, Slash and Motley Crue.

A source close to the negotiations says that Spears wants to write a novel in which a fictional character lives a life based on Spears’ own experiences.

There has been a trend of celebrities who are writing books these days. Prominent authors include the Kardashians and Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.

Spears has often commented in the press about how important reading is in her life.

Britney said:

“Every night, I have to read a book, so that my mind will stop thinking about things that I stress about.”

There are no specifics about the numbers being discussed for Spears but considering she is worth tens of millions of dollars and her salary from the X Factor is more than $15 million dollars it is widely assumed her advance for the book will be very substantial.

There is no word yet on when Spears’ book is planning to be released.
