The Walking Dead Season 7 only featured Carol Peletier in two episodes during the first half. When this season began, fans were hoping that Carol would be back to her old self. Sadly, she is still in the same mental condition, refusing to fight unless it is for self-preservation and seems bitter about everything. It turns out that viewers will see more of Melissa McBride’s character in the second half of the AMC series. Will she change for the better when the show comes back? How will she react after finding out about Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors?
TWD spoilers are ahead. Stop reading if you do not want to know any clues on what to expect when the television show returns.
Prior to the midseason finale of The Walking Dead , Carol and Morgan (Lennie James) were asked by a soldier of The Kingdom to help fight the Saviors. The soldier knew that they would become a problem, even though the agreement is stable for now. However, both characters refused. Carol added that she won’t kill anyone or be the cause of anyone dying.
It was one thing during Season 6 when Carol seemed to be working through some issues. Now, fans think it is time for her to stop this nonsense and get to living in the apocalypse. However, Melissa McBride told Vanity Fair just the opposite. That going through everything she has, that the character needs some time. Everyone handles things differently and for Carol Peletier, that is with isolation. However, The Walking Dead actress also noted that surviving the apocalypse might be what she is running away from.
“When you’ve lost everything, there’s still much to be had — there are people. When you find people you care about, that’s an amazing thing. I mean, that’s it.”
Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), and the other survivors do care about Carol on The Walking Dead . They are her family. However, after losing so many people and having to kill others, including a little girl, now she doesn’t want to form any bonds. Psychologically speaking, this is a natural response when trying to prevent oneself from getting hurt again. It explains why she chooses to live in a house outside The Kingdom instead of within the protective walls. That’s why McBride’s character wants everyone to just go away and leave her alone. The only problem is that Carol is not living in a normal society. It is the zombie apocalypse and things get more dangerous as each day passes.
The magazine speculated that eventually, the old Carol might return to The Walking Dead . The writer mentioned that it could be Ezekiel (Khary Payton) who manages to get through to her. Melissa couldn’t reveal any TWD spoilers about this, but did say he is charming.
Even though on The Walking Dead , Carol doesn’t want any human contact, that just is not going to happen. Soon, she will find out about Negan and the Saviors killing Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun), Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Spencer Monroe (Austin Nichols), and Olivia (Ann Mahoney). She will eventually find out about the group kidnapping Daryl Dixon and everything that is going on. Maybe that is when she will come out of hiding. She might not want any bonds and doesn’t want to kill anymore, but the Alexandrians are still her family. Surely she will go into lioness mode to help save the ones that have been there for her since the beginning, right?
As previously reported by the Inquisitr , when The Walking Dead Season 7 returns, Rick and Daryl will work on planning their attack on Negan and the Saviors. A promo reveals that they don’t want to kill everyone at the Sanctuary because some are workers who are not there by choice. Will they capture Negan, deal with the Saviors, and save the Sanctuary slaves who are innocent?
