Mick Jagger And Ballerina Partner, Melanie Hamrick, Choose Unique Name For His Eighth Child
Mick Jagger recently became a father for the eighth time. He and his 29-year-old partner, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, have revealed the name of their baby boy, Deveraux Octavian Basil. The child’s name is not one of the most popular, but it’s meaningful.
Sister of the new baby, 32-year-old Elizabeth “Lizzy” Jagger, the daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, posted a pic of her new baby brother.
Mick’s late father was known as Joe, but his birth name was Basil, per The Guardian. In Latin, Octavian means “born eighth” and is an apt description for the little one. From Lizzy’s description, it sounds as though Deveraux will be well-loved.
Jagger, who now has four daughters and four sons, is also a grandfather and a great-grandfather, per Rolling Stone. In 2014, then 21-year-old granddaughter Assisi Jackson, gave birth to a baby girl. Assisi is the daughter of Jade Jagger, whose mother is Mick’s ex-wife Bianca Jagger.
Jagger’s children range in age from the newborn Deveraux (born on December 8) to the 46-year-old Karis Hunt Jagger, who Mick had with former partner, Marsha Hunt. A second daughter, Jade (45) was born to Mick and ex-wife, Bianca, a little less than a year later.

Later, Mick had a 22-year relationship with model Jerry Hall, which produced two daughters and a son. The children’s names are Lizzy (32), Leroy (31), Georgia (24), and Gabriel (19).
Luciana Gimenez Morad and Jagger also have a son together, 17-year-old Lucas.

Mick has been with Melanie, the mother of Deveraux, since 2014. Prior to this, he had a long-term relationship with fashion designer L’Wren Scott from 2001 until 2014, the year that she took her own life. Scott willed her $9 million estate and all personal effects to Jagger.

Before Melanie’s relationship with Mick, she was engaged to Jose Manuel Carreno, an American Ballet Theater dancer. They broke off their engagement after he moved to California to become a ballet artistic director. Melanie met Jagger at a Rolling Stones concert in Japan, where she and other dancers were invited backstage. A few weeks after L’Wren’s death, Melanie was seen with Jagger in Switzerland, per GQ UK.
L’Wren’s brother, Randall Bambrough, said he believes that L’Wren would have wanted Mick to go on with his life and be happy. Randall offered congratulations and blessings to Mick, noted Yahoo News.
“I am happy for Mick. I have observed Mick to be a loving father, and family is very important to him. She would want him to have continued overall happiness in his life going forward, especially regarding his family. He cares very deeply about all of his children. This child will be well taken care of just like all the rest of his children.”
The relationship between Jagger and Melanie started casually, but when she became pregnant, they had been together for two years. He is said to have been presently surprised by her pregnancy.
Earlier this year, 69-year-old Ronnie Wood, the legendary guitarist for the Rolling Stones, became a father to twin daughters with 38-year-old wife Sally Humphreys. Now Jagger and his friend can share the joys of parenting in their older years.
