‘Outlander’ Season 3: Sam Heughan Teases Print Shop Scene

Warning: This article may contain Outlander Season 3 spoilers.

Outlander Season 3 has been filming for months in Scotland, and the scene fans are most anticipating is simply known as “the Print Shop.” In the scene — which takes place in Voyager, the third book of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series, upon which Season 3 is based– Jamie and Claire are finally reunited after years apart.

The cast and crew of Outlander Season 3 are keenly aware of how important the scene is to fans. Series co-executive producer Matthew B. Roberts recently tweeted a photo of the shooting script that contains the Print Shop scene.

And this week, Sam Heughan (Jamie) sent out a series of tweets to tease fans about the Print Shop scene, which was finally filmed last week.

And what will happen between Jamie and Claire after they meet in the print shop? Sex, hopefully.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Caitriona Balfe (Claire) said that she understood fans were disappointed with the lack of intimacy between Jamie and Claire in Season 2, compared to Season 1.

“I definitely heard that they missed a lot of the intimacy between Jamie and Claire, which I think we were sort of expecting. I think even Sam and I sort of missed — especially in the beginning because it was so heavy on the politics — I think we were all missing those more intimate moments. They have so many of their iconic fan moments that they really are looking forward to, so you definitely always hear whenever some of those are not there. I’m trying to think of specifics for you, but the one that I just kept hearing, from what I saw on my Twitter: ‘Where’s the sex?'”

But she also indicated Jamie and Claire’s reunion in Outlander Season 3 will be sexy and well worth the wait.

“There will be some other sex going on,” Balfe explained. “I think to really let the reunion and everything that’s going to happen once Jamie and Claire see each other. I think it’s really special. Maybe they’ll have to wait a little bit, but I don’t think it’s going to be as scarce as last season, shall we say?”

Meanwhile, Heughan told PopSugar what fans can expect from Jamie and Claire’s relationship after they reunite the print shop.

“Time has passed, they become different people, but they do have this great love for each other and this great bond. Ultimately, that’s their saving grace, and what brings them back together. They have so much history. It’s really wonderful to play these characters who have moved on from where they were in Season 1, but, hopefully, you’ll see bits of what attracted them to each other in the first place.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Heughan also explained how he and Balfe try to satisfy fans of the Outlander book series by adding little details and touches that aren’t necessarily in the script.

“There’s always going to be little details that will be missed because the show is only an hour-long episode each week,” Heughan explained. “I know myself and Caitriona, we read the books and if we can sneak in a small detail that may not be in the script or even just that we know ourselves, that going from one scene to another, that something’s happened in between that maybe we haven’t been able to show, but at least we know it and, hopefully, in some way it manifests itself.”

That should give fans hope that the Print Shop scenes and the rest of Outlander Season 3 will satisfy both fans of the TV series and the book series.
