With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially together, the couple's romance has been publicized quite a bit around the holiday season. The duo was recently sighted out and about buying a Christmas tree together, which has led to speculation about how serious they might be getting. So will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be engaged soon and married for the New Year? Believe it or not, there are actually odds available for when Prince Harry will finally have a wife, as well as if a baby will be on the way sooner, rather than later.
In a report via ABC News on Thursday, it was mentioned that Markle would most likely not be joining Prince Harry for the upcoming holiday celebration. The reason behind this is that the Royal family's annual Christmas at Sandringham has a protocol that only allows for Harry to bring a wife or fiance to the holiday with Queen Elizabeth II. As it stands, Markle has not officially been proposed to, making her mostly a significant other. However, reports indicate the couple is quite serious right now.
So will they be engaged or married soon? Surprisingly, the Paddy Power website carries betting odds for various world events. That includes the lives of the Royal family including Prince Harry's dating life. Right now, the sports book lists odds of 8 to 1 that Harry will be married in 2016. So a wager of $100 on that would pay out $800 to any lucky bettor should a wedding happen so quickly. That would mean a Royal wedding needs to take place in about two weeks time. Don't count on it based on all the festivities and preparation involved in that sort of prestigious event.
Despite the couple recently being photographed together as they were involved in some holiday traditions, they reportedly won't spend the holidays together for much longer. It's been reported by Hollywood Life that Markle will spend her Christmas with family in Los Angeles. Harry will be at the annual royal tradition with grandmother Queen Elizabeth II in Norfolk. Prince William and Catherine, as well as their two children, will be spending the holiday with Kate's parents. So that has led to speculation that one of the hottest celebrity couples around will reunite for a New Year's Eve celebration. Could Prince Harry be waiting to pop the big question on the final night of the year?
The odds for a Prince Harry marriage in 2017 or later are currently at 1 to 25. Basically, that means a wager of $2500 would pay out a mere $100. It's a large amount to put up for a very small return that could be over a year away. Based on the seriousness that's being reported in various media sources, 2017 might be the year, though.
Paddy Power also has a batch of "Prince Harry specials" that bettors can look at. There are odds of 2 to 1 for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to get married in 2017, and odds of 4 to 1 for the couple to have a baby together in the same year. Interestingly there are other "specials" being offered such as where the wedding will take place. The odds are 1 to 14 that it will take place in the United Kingdom, and 6 to 1 that it takes place in Markle's current home country of Canada.
It's well known by now that Markle is the star of the show Suits on the USA Network. She films for the show in Canada but most likely would follow the traditions of the Royal family when it comes to marriage. There also happen to be odds that Prince Harry will get a cameo in the television show before 2018 and whether or not he'll be cast as the character Mike Ross. One has to wonder if that would come before marriage, after, or never. It would be interesting to see a member of the Royal family appear on the show, though, and it would probably help gain Suits more viewers.
For now, there's no reports or rumors of a proposal, engagement, marriage, or kids, but the odds seem to favor a big Royal wedding in the new year.
So, will Prince Harry pop the question before the end of the current year? Will there be a Royal wedding in 2017, and if so, by mid-year, or later?
