Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce in September shocked the entertainment world, but did they secretly separate two years before the announcement? Sources told Radar Online that the couple’s marital woes actually began during the 2014 Academy Awards, and they reportedly split shortly after .
“She behaved so badly that night, trying to steal all the attention from him with her ridiculous leg,” an inside source explained, referring to Jolie’s revealing pose on the red carpet. “She was so awful to him and his Plan B team that he cut short his own celebration with the 12 Years a Slave co-stars. She wouldn’t let him enjoy the win for even a second.”
Jolie’s jealousy had been allegedly brewing for months before the award ceremony. When Pitt’s production company took home multiple awards for 12 Years a Slave , it was rumored that Jolie couldn’t take it anymore. “They had a massive fight that night and agreed to split,” the insider shared.
That being said, the pair tied the knot in 2014. The wedding, however, was only a last minute attempt to salvage their crumbling relationship, according to the inside source. The couple managed to remain together for two years before Jolie finally pulled the plug in September.
According to Daily Mail , Pitt and Jolie remain locked in a nasty custody battle that could extend well beyond the coming holidays. Pitt has high hopes that he’ll be able to spend time with his six children over Christmas and is working with a psychologist to outline a new visitation schedule.
“Brad hopes to see the kids for Christmas at some point but when hasn’t been determined,” a source revealed.
The couple is fighting for the custody of their six children; Maddox (15), Pax (13), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and twins Vivienne and Knox (8). Until an agreement is reached, Pitt agreed to take part in family therapy sessions for the well-being of the kids.
“Therapeutic visits are determined by therapists whose job it is to ensure the well-being and best interests of the children as they go through this process,” the insider added.
Brad Pitt’s fight for joint custody was complicated by reports of child abuse. In the weeks following Jolie’s filing, the FBI and L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services investigated Pitt after reports surfaced that he abused Maddox on a private plane. The actor has since been cleared of all the allegations.
While the estranged couple continues their fight in court, E! News reports that Jon Voight is optimistic about how things will turn out. During his red carpet appearance at the Critics’ Choice Awards, Jolie’s father opened up about his family plans for the holidays and admitted that Jolie is “holding on.”
“She’s OK,” he revealed. “She’s holding on.”
Back in November, Voight commented on Jolie’s divorce during the premiere of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. While the veteran actor left out many of the details, he thanked fans for their continued support.
“I appreciate everybody’s concern and their prayers,” he shared. “Hopefully things will work out.”
With the custody battle expected to extend well into 2017, Radar Online reports that Pitt is ready to move on with his life . During their decade together, Jolie allegedly kept a list of women Pitt wasn’t allowed to see, and he’s now ready to have a little fun.
“Taylor Schilling, Lady Gaga and even openly gay Sarah Paulson were all on Angie’s blacklist for Brad,” a source told the outlet. “He’s ramping up his new social circle and actively pursuing all of the above and more for work and social opportunities. He’s ready to finally have some fun!”
