‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For Dec. 16, Zhalo Supercell And Some Inventory Changes

The Dawning event in Destiny didn’t just add Sparrow Racing and Strike Scoring. The update Tuesday also brings slight changes to Xûr’s inventory for the weekend of Friday, December 16. Plus, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners have the Zhalo Supercell Auto Rifle to look forward to along with an excellent roll for Young Ahamkara’s Spine.

Bungie made some “quality of life” changes to Xûr’s inventory with the 2.5.0 update released Tuesday. The mysterious vendor once again sells Exotic Shards at a cost of seven Strange Coins each. Additionally, the Heavy Ammo synth pack is now sold in a stack of 10 while Exotic Weapon Ornaments have been removed altogether. They are now sold in the Silver Dust Store located in the Tower between the Postmaster and Eververse Trading Company.

Those looking for Xûr should run straight ahead after spawning in the Tower toward the Vanguard Hall with Cayde-6, Ikora Rey, and Zavala. He is located to the right of the table where the three Vanguards stand, against the wall. Here’s where you can find him on the Tower map, just to be sure.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through Sunday morning. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

Zhalo Supercell

This Exotic Auto Rifle is the only new Primary Weapon in Destiny: The Taken King that is capable of dishing out elemental damage. While the piece is limited to Arc damage, it is still a deliciously fun weapon to use. The namesake primary perk gives each shot a chance to chain lightning damage when enemies are close together. It also adds the “Bolts from the Blue” perk in the final column to charge super energy and return ammo when stringing kills together.

In short, the Zhalo Supercell is a fun weapon to use that is capable of dishing out a good amount of damage despite being the high rate of fire, low impact archetype.

The Glasshouse

The Glasshouse is the other Defender specialty Titan Helmet. If you play as a Titan who likes to drop the Ward of Dawn bubble shield and give the Weapons of Light or Blessing of Light perks to your teammates in Raids or other activities, you should absolutely buy this. The “Bathed in Light” perk on the helmet makes Weapons of Light or Blessing of Light last an extra five seconds. This is extremely helpful for a fireteam in PVE boss fights, as it will allow either dishing out or absorbing damage even longer. The Helm of Saint-14 is more of a companion to the piece, as both fit different uses for the Ward of Dawn.

Optional Glasshouse perks include “Ashes to Assets” for bonus Super energy from Grenade kills and “Heavy Thoughts” for Super energy from Heavy Weapon kills in PVE. The single final column perk is “Innervation” for bonus Grenade energy on Orb pickup.

The 56 Intellect and 58 Strength split stat roll is average for Defender Titans in Destiny. Strongly consider re-rolling these if you pick them up to gain both “Inverse Shadow” as the optional perks and stats that will get you closer to the vaunted Tier 12 level.

Young Ahamkara’s Spine

Gunslingers get this Hunter Exotic from Xur’s inventory this week. The Year Two version of Young Ahamkara’s Spine grants an additional Tripmine Grenade as its innate perk in addition to extending grenade duration by 30 seconds.

Destiny players will also have the option between the “Fastball” perk for increased grenade throw distance and “Impact Induction” for bonus grenade energy on melee hits. Plus, there’s the choice of faster reloads for Auto Rifles or Shotguns.

An extra Tripmine Grenade in PVP is invaluable, which makes this a must pick-up for Destiny Gunslingers who don’t have this Exotic piece yet. The 56 max Discipline roll is only two points off the maximum while the 58 Strength roll is at max. This is a near perfect roll that is a fantastic pickup.

Voidfang Vestments

The other repeat of the week, Voidfang Vestments is an Exotic Warlock chest piece that comes with a Voidwalker sub-class focused perk. The “Hungering Void” perk will spawn an additional seeker for Axion Bolt grenades and allows your Warlock to respawn with full grenade energy. The chest piece also comes with optional perks for either bonus Pulse Rifle or Sidearm ammo. The final column includes increased Solar Burn Defense or Void Armor.

These Voidfang Vestments received a relatively poor role by being six points off the maximum for Discipline and eight points off the maximum for Strength. Skip or re-roll.
