Michael Fassbender And Alicia Vikander Finally Open Up About Relationship And Upcoming Roles

Michael Fassbender has finally opened up about his romance with Alicia Vikander, according to the Express. Neither Fassbender nor his girlfriend like to discuss their relationship with journalists, but the 39-year-old actor finally broke the silence about his love life with Vikander.

In his interview on Good Morning Britain, Michael Fassbender described his romance with Vikander, his co-star in The Light Between Oceans, with just three words, “It just happened.”

Michael Fassbender also insisted that it’s “not really difficult” to discuss his love life with journalists, but quickly added that he always answers that he chooses to answer. But nonetheless, the 12 Years a Slave actor admits he’s “glad” that his relationship with Vikander happened.

Michael Fassbender and Vikander met on the set of The Light Between Oceans back in 2014. It’s believed that they have been an item ever since then, but neither Fassbender nor his co-star ever confirmed that.

In the film, which was released earlier this year, Michael Fassbender plays a lighthouse keeper, whose wife (Vikander) fears she will never become a mother after suffering two miscarriages. Then suddenly, a rowboat washes up near their lighthouse.

In the boat, Michael Fassbender and Vikander’s characters discover a dead man and a terrified baby girl. Now the couple has to decide whether to raise the girl as their own or send her to an orphanage.

In the same interview, Michael Fassbender revealed what attracted him the most in this film and why he decided to take on that role.

“What attracted me was the story, this character. I felt like he was something from a bygone era. They don’t make men like him anymore.”

Michael Fassbender became famous thanks to portraying people who are not at peace with themselves. In 2008’s Hunger, the actor played prisoner Bobby Sands on a hunger strike. Then he played a sex addict in Shame. And in 2013 he portrayed a violent plantation owner in the Oscar-winning film 12 Years a Slave, according to The Guardian.

Michael Fassbender also noted that at first, the lighthouse seems like “an endless honeymoon” for his characters, but it soon “becomes a prison.”

In her interview with Porter Magazine last month, Vikander also opened up about her romance with Fassbender. The Oscar-winning actress insisted that they have never tried to hide the fact that they are dating and described her beau as an “extremely hardworking” man.

“He was like, ‘Give me something new! I just need a new idea. I need to do it differently.'”

And Vikander admits that she was inspired by such an eagerness to come up with new ideas constantly.

“I just thought that was cool. Because that was what I was trying to do, too. To push each other and come up with new ideas each time.”

And really, Michael Fassbender sure seems like one of the busiest actors of this decade. The two-time Oscar-nominated actor, who turns 40-years-old next year, has starred in 10 films since 2013’s 12 Years a Slave.

Michael Fassbender is set to star in three movies in the next few months, including one which he also produces. And in May 2017, Fassbender is set to star in the highly anticipated Alien: Covenant. According to Cinema Blend, the actor has confirmed that he will play a character by the name of Walter and that the character is a “different kettle of fish” from Prometheus’s David.

“David was definitely a work-in-progress, somewhat of a prototype I suppose. The elements of him that were the human elements I think people found a little disturbing, so Walter’s more of a straightforward robot. Pretty logical, much more of a servant without the ego.”

Given the sheer number of films that Fassbender is involved with, it would be understandable if Fassbender delivered average-quality performances due to the frequency of his films, but it’s not the case. In fact, the only flop he admits in his career is the 2010 film Jonah Hex. Michael Fassbender says he didn’t even watch the movie, not even once.

All things considered, the actor has a flawless acting career: so perfect, in fact, that Michael Fassbender admits that there is no actor alive with whom he would want to swap places.
