The Walking Dead Season 7B premiere will not air until February 12, 2017. However, the synopsis and a promo clip have been released. In the 35-second video, there is an image behind Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) that is downright creepy. Is it a zombified cow or could it be a survivor wearing an animal skull mask? Most likely, it is neither. What it appears to be when looking closely is the freakiest, creepiest, and most WTF walker ever. Keep reading to get all the details.
TWD spoilers and theories are below. Do not continue reading past this point unless you want to know what could happen on the popular AMC TV show.
To promote what is coming next for Rick Grimes and the others, AMC released a promo clip for The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 9. In the last scene, there are a few seconds of bizarre footage. Viewers think the midseason premiere promo clip has ended when the AMC logo pops up. However, right after that one additional scene with Rick Grimes is shown. As the Alexandrian leader looks around, surrounded by a horde of walkers, there is a strange figure in the background. At first glance, it does resemble some sort of alien-like cow skull. However, pausing the video reveals a little more information. Standing upright and covered in white from head to toe, there are spikes on the head, back, and chest. The top part of the face is flat and just looks downright bizarre and creepy.
This is probably a walker that has completely decomposed, who has no flesh left at all. It was stated a few months ago by the executive producers of The Walking Dead to expect walkers who look worse because more time has passed. As the years ago by, dead bodies continue to decompose and rot away. The spikes on the chest and back could be spears or another weapon stuck in the body, but that doesn’t explain the spikes on top of the head. Any trauma to the brain would kill the creature, unless only the outer portion of the skull were penetrated with the spikes.
In The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 9 promo clip that was released by AMC network, Rick Grimes looks around and seems to be sensing something or someone is behind him. He slowly turns around to face it. The midseason premiere promo clip cuts off at that point, but Andrew Lincoln’s character does appear to jump back a little bit, as if he is stunned by what he is seeing. TWD fans have seen hundreds of walkers on the television show. Some were fresh and others were not. There were even water walkers, which were absolutely grotesque. However, this particular zombie has to be the weirdest anyone has ever seen on the television show. Were they tortured before death? Was some doctor doing experiments on the walker after it was reanimated? Does it belong to the Saviors, who already do some odd things with walker body parts?
Take a look at The Walking Dead Season 7, Episode 9 promo clip and pause it at the 33-second mark. Take a close look at what is in the background and share your thoughts in the comments section below. Is it a completely decomposed walker or something else? What are the spikes and why does its face look like that?
As for the TWD midseason premiere synopsis, it doesn’t reveal much. Spoiler TV only wrote that Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will plan the war against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors.
The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres the second half on February 12, 2017.
