WWE News: Bray Wyatt On Recruiting A New Member & His Unlikely Alliance With Randy Orton
Neither Bray Wyatt or Randy Orton appeared on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, but the Wyatt Family still had a significant presence on the show in the form of Luke Harper. Bray’s longest-tenured disciple found himself in the fatal four-way main event to determine a new number one contender to AJ Styles’ WWE Championship along with Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose, and The Miz.
Harper had an impressive showing, which caused the announcers to imagine how destructive the Wyatt Family would look with Harper as the WWE Champion and Bray and Orton as the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. Alas, Harper did not emerge victorious, but the Wyatts did discover their newest challengers to their tag team gold, though that’s in peril now as well.
The Hype Bros won a Battle Royal to become the new number one contenders for the Wyatt Family’s tag team belts, but Zack Ryder injured his knee during the match. He’s set to have an MRI on Wednesday which will reveal the severity of the injury. On Talking Smack, The Usos stated their claim to be the rightful challengers despite not even participating in the Battle Royal.
Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton captured the championship belts at TLC two weeks ago and appear in total command of the division. It was expected that American Alpha would emerge as their first challengers after dispatching of Heath Slater and Rhyno, but it appears they’ll be holding off on that program due to the current success of this new Wyatt Family faction.
Orton recently stated that has a renewed vigor for wrestling and sports entertainment after being aligned with the Wyatts. He enjoys his current storyline and creative more than he has in a long time, adding more fuel to the fire that the stable will have more longevity than originally anticipated. Bray was interviewed by WTOP where he was asked about Orton’s inclusion into the family, as transcribed by Wrestling Inc.
“When you look at me and Randy, whether you look at us as good guys and bad guys, me and Randy have so much similarities. We’re similar type of people, and us joining forces makes us the strongest alliance. We won a Survivor Series match, we dominated this SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship. It’s good to be the king and I think together we can rule the world. It’s that type of situation.”
The Wyatt Family has had several different iterations since the group debuted on the main roster in 2013. It began with Bray, Harper, and Erick Rowan. The liberation of Harper and Rowan preceded a reunion with the addition of Braun Strowman. And after a lengthy feud between Bray and Randy, The Viper was added to the faction in its current form today.
Rowan is still on the disabled list, but Bray revealed that he’s always scouting potential new members. You might be surprised to hear who he’s currently targeting to become the newest member of the Wyatt Family.
“There are a lot of guys I could see standing with over the years. Big Show has a beautiful beard right now, I’ve been thinking about recruiting him. What could be better than just having a giant on the leash?”
Whether that’s realistic or not remains to be seen, but Bray’s actual real-life brother, Bo Dallas, has always been rumored for a character change and eventual addition to the Wyatt clan. Bray deflected that notion, more or less, but did say it’d be an honor to fight by his side like they used to. He’s said before how the WWE didn’t know what they had in the Wyatt Family and he was constantly being misused. That may have changed in light of the brand extension.
“… we’ve been doing this five or six years together as a unit, and coming from where we came from and seeing where we are at now is a real tribute to what we put into this, and who we are as individuals. I’m spreading the word, which got everybody’s attention in the first place. People wanted to see more of us and it tells the tale of everything. What we’ve been through and what we’re going to do next.”
