WWE Studios And ABC Family Join Forces For ‘Christmas Bounty’
WWE Studios and ABC Family are joining forces to bring the TV movie Christmas Bounty to this masses next year, according to Deadline.
Headlining Christmas Bounty is WWE superstar Michael “The Miz” Mizanin, who starred in the straight-to-video sequel Marine 3: Homeland for the company this year. Before skyrocketing to fame as a professional wrestler, Mizanin was featured on MTV’s The Real World: Back to New York and the spin-off series Real World-Road Rules Challenge.
The holiday-themed co-production, which is slated for broadcast in 2013, required the talents of no less than four different screenwriters. Andrew Black, Vivian Lee, James Berg, and Stan Zimmerman were all responsible for handling scripting duties at one point in time.
The official press release describes the feature as follows:
“Christmas Bounty is an action-filled comedy about a former bounty hunter turned elementary schoolteacher. Determined to have a normal life, and keep her bounty hunter past a secret, she reluctantly returns home for Christmas to help save the family business by catching the one bounty that got away. But when her fiancé follows her home for the holiday, she struggles to hide her wild family business and a bounty hunter ex-boyfriend she thought she’d left behind.”
“ABC Family is the destination for holiday programming and is known for great original holiday movies. We’re thrilled to partner with WWE Studios and bring WWE’s passionate fan base to ABC Family and our wonderful 25 Days of Christmas programming event with such a fun movie,” explained Kate Juergens, Executive Vice President of Original Series Programming and Development for ABC Family.
While Christmas Bounty marks the company’s first foray into the world of ABC Family original movies, WWE Studios already has a handful of films under its belt. In addition to releasing Marine 2 and director Stephen Herek’s The Chaperone, the studio is currently putting together a reboot of the horror franchise Leprechaun.
