Tim Tebow Rides The Bench In Jets Collapse
The New York Jets are continuing their regular season collapse, losing to the Miami Dolphins 30-9. Tim Tebow rode the bench, while quaterback Mark Sanchez was roughed up for another loss and another interception at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This is the Jets second loss in a row.
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was sidelined by an injury, and backup quarterback Matt Moore stepped in to pick up the slack.
Moore completed a touchdown pass to Anthony Fasano. Defender Olivier Vernon also blocked a punt in the endzone for a touchdown, and he also blocked a field goal.
The Jets offense never really got started in the match-up, looking like the Jets of old as opposed to the team that made the playoffs in two of the last three seasons. Both sides filled the airwaves with trash talking this week, yet the Dolphins silenced the entire New York team and their fans on the field. The New York Jets have fallen to 3-5 on the season, losing their last two games.
Dolphins quarterback Tannehill injured his left knee and also sustained a pull on his quadriceps muscle which took him out of the game on a third down sack by Calvin Pace. It was the Dolphins second possession of the game. Moore stepped in and finished 11 of 19 for 131 yards.
Jets Quarterback Mark Sanchez was only 28 of 54, with 283 yards. He threw one touchdown and the costly interception. Tim Tebow, came off the bench for one carry, which resulted in a 2 yard gain. He didn’t even attempt a pass.
