Brad Pitt is reportedly fighting for joint custody of his six kids, but unfortunately, his estranged wife, Angelina Jolie, is allegedly doing what she can to prevent any such thing.
Since the couple parted ways in September, Brad Pitt’s children, including Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8, have been living with their mother in Los Angeles while their father is reportedly restricted to nothing more than the occasional supervised visit with his kids.
While there does not appear to be a change in custody in sight for the former couple, Brad Pitt is reportedly ready to fight hard for more time with his children.
“Angelina is really upset, she didn’t think [Brad Pitt] would fight this hard for the kids — she thought he would roll over and she would get her way,” a source told Hollywood Life on December 11. “But Brad’s vowed to do everything in his power to gain as much custody of the kids as possible. He’s not going to just cave in and allow Angie to play her games.”
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt on September 19 after just over two years of marriage.
“For some reason, Angelina thought she would be able to cut [Brad Pitt] out of their lives for good, and she’s learning she can’t,” the source continued. “He’s their dad for heaven’s sake, he has the right to see them.”
During their 12-year relationship, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie welcomed three of their children, including daughter Shiloh and their twins, biologically, while their other three kids were adopted. Before the start of their romance, Jolie adopted Maddox from Cambodia and years later, Brad Pitt adopted him as his own. Then, in the years that followed, the now-estranged couple became the adoptive parents of Pax, from Vietnam, and Zahara, from Ethiopia.
While Brad Pitt continues to spend time away from his children, he has reportedly made legal moves to become more involved in their lives. However, he has been unsuccessful with his efforts thus far. As the Hollywood Life report explained, Brad Pitt allegedly created a visitation plan which included just one session with each kid, but his estranged wife and her attorney, Laura Wasser, reportedly shot down the idea shortly after that.
“Prepare yourselves, you haven’t seen anything yet—this divorce is about to get a whole lot nastier,” the source revealed.
As Brad Pitt remains out of the public eye after a promotional tour for his new film, Allied , last month, his estranged wife has reportedly taken her children from their Malibu, California rental and has allegedly been staying at a hotel in Los Angeles.
“Angelina has been hiding out here at the Bel Air Hotel with her children off and on for several weeks,” a source close to the actress told Hollywood Life last week. “She comes in and out a back entrance and keeps a low profile. She appreciates the privacy the secluded hotel provides her and her family.”
Although no confirmation has been given regarding whether or not Brad Pitt will be allowed time with his six children over the Christmas holiday, he was believed to have been out of the country in Turks and Caicos on Thanksgiving.
“[Brad Pitt] had a very restful and relaxing stay in the company of an old friend,” an insider revealed to People Magazine , adding that his kids spent their Thanksgiving with their mother.
Brad Pitt “has been very unhappy with the arrangement,” a second source recently told the magazine. “He loves his kids and wants to spend more time with them.”
