NBC Premieres ‘The Wall’ Following ‘America’s Got Talent’ Christmas Special And After ‘Celebrity Apprentice’
NBC claims that the network will be starting off the new year with a “heart-stopping new game show” called The Wall which is essentially making a “Plinko” game larger than life. Though the show won’t begin until Tuesday, January 3, NBC will be giving viewers a chance to catch the new show early after the America’s Got Talent Holiday Spectacular and then later following the premiere of The New Celebrity Apprentice with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The Wall
More than $12 million dollars will be up for grabs each night on The Wall. Executively produced by NBA star LeBron James, host Chris Hardwick will be offering pairs of contestants “life-altering cash prizes” if the ball falling down a four-story wall lands at the right spot on the bottom.
“The rules are simple, says NBC. “Get a question correct and a green ball will fall down the wall and add the value of the slot to the players’ winning total. Miss a question and an ominous red ball will fall and deduct the value from the team. Teammates have to work together to build a huge cash prize.”
Of course, just like any size of “Plinko,” the way each ball falls is wildly unpredictable. “A roller coaster of emotions, the wall gives and the wall takes away. One minute you’re up and the next you’re one bounce away from zero. In this game, you need both the answers and bounces … with millions at stake every night.”
America’s Got Talent Holiday Spectacular
In related news, 2016 was America’s Got Talent most successful season on NBC in five years. To celebrate, the show is presenting a “holiday spectacular” on Monday, December 19. Host Nick Cannon, along with all four celebrity judges (Mel B. Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel) will be on hand for the festivities.
Among the highlights of this unique Christmas special include music from Season 11 winner Grace VanderWaal, Sal Valentinetti will sing a Christmas tune in the style of an old Christmas TV special with the judge who says she is his biggest fan: Heidi Klum. “Professor Splash” will do a belly flop into a pool of eggnog and “The Regurgitator” will incorporate holiday ornaments into his disturbing performance.
However, the special is also said to include amazing and heart-warming performances as well. Special guest performers appearing on America’s Got Talent Holiday Spectacular include the acrobatic gymnasts AcroArmy, singer Calysta Bevier, the self-described The Clairvoyants, Broadway singer Brian Justin Crum, singer/songwriter Andra Day, former football player-turned magician Jon Dorenbos, family band Edgar, belly-flopper Professor Splash, the disgusting Regurgitator, and a special number or two from Pentatonix.
The America’s Got Talent Holiday Spectacular will also feature performances from former winners as well including Jackie Evancho, impersonator Terry Fator, magician Mat Franco. and Richard Olate and his amazing dogs.
Finally, a few acts will be performed from previous favorite contestants as well including Piff the Magic Dragon (performing with Penn & Teller), musician Ronee Martin, dance artists The Silhouettes, music group and The Sons of Serendip.
