‘Star Wars 8’ News: Title Likely Revealed And Supreme Leader Snoke A Big Practical Effect Puppet [Rumors]
Star Wars 8 news and rumors are on the table as it’s quite possible a title has been born for the eighth sequel of the current trilogy. Also, Supreme Leader Snoke is said by sources to be quite impressive as of late, according to Making Star Wars. In The Force Awakens he was a sizable hologram and finished the movie off by bringing back Kylo Ren to further his training.
Star Wars 8 Sequel Has Possible Title
Recently, the European Union Intellectual Property Office had on their site along with a notation of Lucasfilm what could be the very title that had been anticipated by fans for the eighth movie, Star Wars Forces of Destiny. Take note the numerous items on the list following this trademark filing. That’s quite a hefty list.
Speaking of destiny, Darth Vader did mention Luke was destined to join the Dark Side, but hopefully the name has nothing to do with that as that was likely only wishful thinking on Vader’s part.

Supreme Leader Snoke A Puppet?
Sources over at Making Star Wars revealed that “it appears, at least in part,” that he will be a practical effect being operated by multiple people. Snoke is supposed to stand around seven to eight feet in height. Fan rumors were going around about his sizable stature in hologram format and likened him to that of Oz in The Wizard of Oz or “the man behind the curtain.” Snoke was also said to be “stylistically” represented in the hologram sequences and when in the presence of humans will be practically operated by a crew.
Do you think Snoke’s large hologram image is equal to real-life rulers that deliberately sat high above their subordinates? Perhaps that’s how the class system works among the Siths?
There had been tons of rumors going around about who Snoke really is, including a far-reaching frame of thought that he is Darth Maul. Some of those theories even reached far into the animated world of Star Wars Rebels.
There was also news that Star Wars 8 would pick up immediately after The Force Awakens movie and Making Star Wars theorized that General Hux, Kylo Ren, and Supreme Leader Snoke would rally together shortly after the Star Killer Base’s destruction. The film is said to take place mostly on Ahch-To, the planet where Luke was hiding out and where Rey will also be. Making Star Wars claims there may be a “juxtaposition” between those two with Snoke and Kylo Ren.
That said, do you think there will come a reckoning at this point? Buzz had gone around back in the day when actor Adam Driver had likened Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back to that of Episode 8.
“It’s great. It’s similar to how The Empire Strikes Back has a different tone. For that people always go “oooh, it’s dark” but I don’t know that it necessarily is. It’s just different in tone in a way that I think is great and necessary but also very clear. He trusts [that] his audience is ready for nuance and ambiguity. He’s not dumbing anything down for someone and that’s really fun to play.”
Later on, Driver clarified that The Empire Strikes Back was just an example, albeit a poor one, to describe his stance on the situation back then saying that the tone was different and that Star Wars 8 would not be in the same vain as the fifth Star Wars in the original trilogy.

Other rumors regarding the eighth sequel had made their way online such as Luke Skywalker and Rey’s battle with Kylo and the Knights of Ren as well as long-distance set photos of various props and creatures found on an island. One can only speculate what these rumors entail, but Making Star Wars has been pretty much spot-on with their insight into the Lucasfilm franchise.
Star Wars 8 is being directed by Rian Johnson and will debut on Dec. 15, 2017.
