Eddie Redmayne Has Touching Words For J.K. Rowling: She ‘Has No Other Agenda’ But To Tell Her Story
With the confirmation that there will be four more Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them films, there are naysayers who question J.K. Rowling’s intentions. Nonetheless, lead actor Eddie Redmayne praised the British author via GQ and said that her ultimate agenda is to just tell her story.
“When you meet J.K. Rowling you realize that for her it’s all about telling her story. That’s all she wants to do, she has no other agenda. She is an incredibly wealthy, incredibly generous human being telling this story because she has a story to tell.”
Working with the Harry Potter novelist is something Eddie is thankful for. For him, the succeeding Fantastic Beasts movies will only be produced if viewers will actually enjoy them.
“[Working with her] excites me, because if you’re going to make more films – and I have no idea what those stories are, or what my role would be within it – and you’re gonna jump into the dark, without knowing what the future is, doing it in the hands of one of the great storytellers of our generation feels like quite a good play.”
He added that Rowling “had always planned out” her stories. The decision to create five Fantastic Beasts films did not surface overnight. According to the Theory of Everything actor, J.K. plotted the scripts and realized that she would tell the story in five installments.
Although Newt will continue to be in the films, it remains to be seen if he will be the focus for there is another Scamander in the picture. A display at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood features Thesius Scamander’s letter to his younger brother Newt.
The website Snitch Seeker managed to take a photo of the letter which revealed that Gellert Grindelwald “has upset a few of the big wheels and he’s gone underground.” Theseus wrote that he was chosen to work on the case and to look for the wizard who was wreaking havoc.
In the first Fantastic Beasts film, Newt’s brother was mentioned when someone at MACUSA, upon hearing “Scamander,” asked Newt if he was Theseus, the war hero. Colin Farrell also told Cinema Blend that Newt’s brother is a “very, very powerful Auror.”
The letter presents several plots that might emerge in the succeeding films. If Theseus is looking for Grindelwald on behalf of the Ministry of Magic, there’s a possibility for him to go missing and it will be Newt’s mission to locate him.
A description of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel recently surfaced on IMDb Pro which eagle-eyed fans managed to spot.
“Newt tries to move on, but Leta keeps turning up when he least expects it. After a while, he realizes she is only there to tell him about Dumbledore, who needs to defeat Grindelwald.”
It is certain that Leta will appear in the follow-up films and that Zoe Kravitz will give life to the character. Newt shared a “close” bond with Leta during their time at Hogwarts but it didn’t last. While they were inside Newt’s enchanted suitcase, Queenie said that Newt needs a giver and unfortunately, Leta is more of a “taker.” Does IMDb’s description hint of a possible redemption? It should be noted, however, that descriptions found on the website may be edited by other people.
Many are curious on how exactly Leta is related to the Lestranges especially if it’s true that she is determined to give Newt information that can defeat Grindelwald. After all, the Lestranges are known loyalists of the Dark Arts that Bellatrix even played a surprising role in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 will come out on November 2018.
