WWE Rumors: Samoa Joe Ready To Make WWE Main Roster Debut
Arguably, the two biggest stars in NXT that are more than ready to make the jump to the WWE are Samoa Jor and Shinsuke Nakamura. Shinsuke Nakamura beat Samoa Joe for the NXT title, Joe won it back to become the first two-time NXT champion, and Shinsuke won it back in a match in Japan to also become a two-time champion.
Bleacher Report stated that the two had one more fight for the title, in a steel cage, and Shinsuke Nakamura won the match to keep the NXT title. For fans who remember, a steel cage is also the type of match that ended the Samoa Joe vs. Finn Balor feud; Finn Balor then made his WWE main roster debut.
This makes it look like the Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura feud is over with and Bobby Roode is set up to be the next contender to the NXT title at their next TakeOver event in January. This makes it look like it is finally time for Samoa Joe to move up to the main WWE roster.
The biggest WWE rumors indicate that Samoa Joe will possibly make his WWE debut at the Royal Rumble in that particular match. It would be a huge moment, much like when AJ Styles made his WWE debut last year to face off with Roman Reigns.
The only difference here is that Samoa Joe won’t be the surprise that AJ Styles was since no one knew that AJ Styles was coming straight to the main roster without a stop in NXT like others before him. AJ Styles is the biggest TNA Impact Wrestling star to move straight to the main WWE roster while names like Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, and Eric Young all made their debuts in NXT.
AJ Styles is likely to defend his title at the Royal Rumble, and there is a good chance it could be against The Undertaker. Regardless of who the title match is against, AJ Styles probably won’t be in the actual Royal Rumble match itself, so he wouldn’t face Samoa Joe in that match.
TNA Impact Wrestling fans could only imagine seeing AJ Styles in the Royal Rumble and Samoa Joe walking out to his music to stand face-to-face with AJ Styles. That won’t happen but one could also imagine Samoa Joe coming out and getting a title shot for WrestleMania against AJ Styles for the SmackDown Live world title.
Once again, that is probably wishful thinking. ESPN published an article back in August predicting various WrestleMania matches. Two of those WWE matches are still likely to happen with Undertaker vs. John Cena and Sasha Banks vs. Bayley.
Other rumored WWE matches include Charlotte vs. Ronda Rousey, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins, and Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg. That leaves room for Roman Reigns, who might be either the Raw Universal champion by that time or contending for the title, and Kevin Owens, who currently holds the WWE title.

AJ Styles has some big match ideas if he stays on SmackDown Live, but the biggest match for many WWE fans would be against Samoa Joe. There were also rumors that AJ Styles could fight Finn Balor in a battle of former Bullet Club leaders but Balor would have to be back from injury in time for that.
There are a ton of ways that Samoa Joe could go if he moves to the main roster, but SmackDown Live might be the best fit because he is a big too similar to Kevin Owens to have them both on Monday Night Raw. Expect to see Samoa Joe on the main WWE roster by January.
