Lala Kent Says Katie Maloney And Tom Schwartz’s Marriage Won’t Last, Explains Why She’s Keeping BF A Secret
Ever since Lala Kent joined Vanderpump Rules on Season 4, she has been a lightning rod of controversy with both many of her co-stars and viewers. She has had an even bigger role on the current fifth season, with some of the other cast members’ ostracization of her, led particularly by Katie Maloney, and the question of whether she’s really dating a married man being central story lines for the past few episodes.
After the latest episode aired on Monday night, Lala did an interview with AfterBuzz TV during which she answered many questions about her role on the show, including exactly how she got on it and her future on it. Lala also addressed the rumor, spread by some of her co-stars such as Katie, Stassi Schroeder, and Kristen Doute, that she’s dating a married man. Lala explained why she’s keeping the identity of the man she’s dating secret despite the fact that revealing him would put the married man rumor to rest.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Lala tweeted in July that she has decided to quit the show. Why would Lala quit being on a show that’s so popular?
In her AfterBuzz TV interview, Lala confirmed that she hasn’t changed her decision about not returning next season. She said that the environment is simply too toxic for her to continue on with it and explained exactly what happened when she decided to quit the show.
“It got too negative. I’m the type of person that doesn’t handle negativity too well. I go into shut down mode. So when I decided to leave, cause they did not want me to leave, I literally got in my car, drove 10 hours to Utah and my mom shut my phone off altogether…and she basically said, ‘She will not be returning. Leave her alone.'”
Lala did say that on Season 5, viewers will see her one more time, after her drive to Utah, in a scene that shows her “wrap[ping] it up” and continuing on with her world.
Does this mean that viewers won’t see Lala on the Vanderpump Rules Season 5 reunion show, which has yet to be filmed? Lala confirmed during the interview that she has no plans on filming the reunion show.
Apparently, Lala Kent didn’t know what she was getting herself into when she signed up for Vanderpump Rules. She revealed that she joined the show after Lisa Vanderpump, who is executive producer of the show and runs SUR alongside her husband and other partners, approached her out-of-the blue with an offer.
“I started going to SUR when I was 17-years-old, before Lisa and Ken were even partners with the original owner. So I was eating there and I had girlfriends from Utah with me that worked there and Lisa just came up to me and said, ‘Would you like to work here? I hear you’re new to California.’ And with that job offer came, ‘Do you want to film the show?'”
Lala explained that she saw doing the show as an opportunity to further her entertainment career outside of reality TV.
In regard to the claim that she’s dating a married man, which Katie Maloney, Kristen Doute, and Stassi Schroeder have accused Lala of, Lala revealed that she is in a relationship but her boyfriend is not married. She explained why she has kept the identity of her boyfriend secret despite people wanting to know who he is.
“Yes. Today, right now. Not married. He does have a child and I am on a reality TV show and I’m sorry,…he didn’t sign up for this…and I’m really good friends with the mother of his child. She’s asked me politely, ‘Please don’t bring my family into this…’ His child’s with him all the time. It’s like sorry no, I’m not going to tell these people about my man. I don’t owe you anything. We’re not friends. You guys have been nothing but mean.”
Lala maintained that she has no idea where the claim that she’s dating a married man comes from.
“I just don’t know where it would have come from for it to be misconstrued, unless they thought the man I’m with now is with the baby mama but she would confirm that that’s not the case at all. Like I said, we’re very close.”
Lala added that she has repeatedly asked her accusers for any information and/or proof as to what they’re claiming but they have never given her any.
Not surprisingly, Lala Kent had some strong words about Katie Maloney’s marriage to Tom Schwartz. Lala gave her opinion that Katie and Tom, who is too good for Katie, are still together because they’re just too comfortable with one another now to break things off. Lala also predicted that the marriage won’t last long.
“I just think he’s sooooo too good for her. Just everything about it I’m like, ‘Katie, you’re so lucky to have him.’ But milk has a longer shelf life than that marriage…I feel like maybe it’s a comfort thing. They’ve been together for so long and they’re holding on to that little bit of good that they had in the beginning which just doesn’t exist anymore. That’s just my take on it.”
