Lena Dunham Responds To Criticism Of Controversial Obama Ad
Lena Dunham caused a little controversy this week when she released an ad that likened voting to having sex.
In the ad, Dunham said that she wanted her first time to be with a great guy who really understands women.
“Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy … Someone who really cares about and understands women. A guy who cares whether you get health insurance, specifically whether you get birth control.”
The ad has received some praise for sending an effective message to young voters but others have said that the ad was exploiting young women. Big Government writes that Dunham probably meant to empower women with her ad but has instead exploited young women with an “insane commercial comparing losing your virginity with voting.”
RedState.com writes that the ad “degraded what should be the highest office in the country” and a New York Post columnist said it was an “unwise political move.”
Dunham has also received plenty of criticism through social networks like Twitter.
The HBO star writes:
It tickles me to no end that while my twitter feed was blowing up with conservative hate I was literally hanging out in a pile of bisexuals.

Dunham also said that the ad may be funny but it also has a serious message.
The video may be light but the message is serious: vote for women’s rights.
