‘Chicago Fire’ Star Taylor Kinney On Making It To 100 Episodes And Staying Tight With Lady Gaga

There’s no question Taylor Kinney has been keeping busy following his split from Lady Gaga. For one thing, Taylor has just completed his 100th Chicago Fire episode and, talking about achieving that milestone, Kinney looks back at the surreal experience of filming the pilot. The Chicago Fire star delights fans with a behind the scenes story that puts his heroic on camera feats into perspective. Kinney has also donated his time to working on a very special charity, one of Lady Gaga’s greatest loves, next to music. The event brought Taylor back together with Lady Gaga and her mother, proving that, while they may no longer be romantically linked, there’s no animosity between Gaga and Kinney.

Chicago Fire Star Taylor Kinney Reflects On 100 Episodes

Taylor Kinney has been playing the part of Kelly Severide on Chicago Fire since 2012 and, together with the rest of the cast, Entertainment Weekly reports that Kinney has been nostalgic in looking back on the early days of the series. After 100 episodes, there are many memories, both good and bad, but Kinney says that what he remembers most vividly is filming the pilot episode.

“There was a scene that we shot where I was repelling into the lake,” Taylor recalls.

“I remember not having a clue what the hell I was doing, and I’m repelling off of this bridge into the river off of Lake Michigan, and I have this goofy harness, this drysuit on, and all this gear, and I’m running my dialogue, and it just felt so bizarre and silly. I remember talking to one of the advisors and I’m like, ‘All I had to do was get down to the water — wouldn’t it be quicker to run down? Would you do this?’ It was one of those things that when we first started, you just kind of went with it.”

In spite of his doubts and a whole list of questions that Kinney is sure annoyed his Chicago Fire director, he says the scene turned out great. Since that pilot, Kinney has learned to have a greater appreciation for what the technical team does in putting the scenes together. He adds that there are real firefighters associated with the show, so, if there’s ever any doubt about something in the episode, it’s just a matter of consulting the professionals.

And the bad memories? Taylor was hesitant to say which was his worst, but he did hint that he might make himself unavailable for one Chicago Fire stunt, should the writers ever wish to repeat it.

“A rescue in Lake Michigan in January stands out as something that I don’t think I would do again. I think I would find some weird ailment,” says Kinney.

Taylor Kinney Still Loves Lady Gaga And Family

While Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney are no longer an item, the Daily Mail reports that fans can nurse their broken hearts with the knowledge that the pair is still on good terms, proven by Kinney’s assistance given to Lady Gaga’s mom at a recent charity event. Lady Gaga posted a photo on her Instagram account showing her mom, Cindy, and Taylor working together at 30 Rockafeller Center for the singer’s charity, the Born This Way Foundation.

“@taylorkinney111 and my mom sent letters filled with kind words to soldiers fighting overseas. #ShareKindness,” Lady Gaga captioned the picture.

The singer added that her organization hosted the event in which people can send letters of kindness to others. Kinney and Cindy were photographed as they dropped kind letters of support and encouragement to soldiers stationed overseas, during this holiday season.

Following the event, Lady Gaga continued with her tour, which currently has her performing in London. The pop star hit the stage at the Royal Variety Performance at the Hammersmith Apollo, where she performed “A Million Reasons” among many more hits and new songs from Joanne.

Chicago Fire airs tonight on NBC.
