Jill Duggar And Derick Dillard Find New Way To Ask For Donations, Still Haven’t Returned To El Salvador
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are still urging fans to donate to their ministry, but they haven’t updated potential donors on when they plan on returning to the mission field in El Salvador.
Jill and Derick have said that they only plan on staying in the U.S. for a “brief time” before heading back to El Salvador, where they lived as missionaries for the better part of a year. As People reports, they returned home early in August, so they’ve been away from the mission field for about four months. On Saturday, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar proved that their daughter is still home by sharing a photo taken during a “double date” with Jill and Derick.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard haven’t shared any ministry updates on the Dillard Family website since October 6, but they did recently modify the website in a big way. As the Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray Facebook page points out, Jill and Derick have added a massive blue “Donate” button to the website’s front page.
A screenshot from the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine shows that this donation button was nonexistent on October 14, which is the last date that a screen capture of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s website was saved. This may be a sign that the couple is returning to the mission field soon and is trying to raise as much money as they can before they depart.
Jill and Derick still haven’t shared a detailed account of what their donors’ money is being used for, but they did say that they have used their own money for all but one plane trip to Central America.
“We are thankful that we’ve been able to put ministry funds to the most direct use in Central America and have been able to cover all of our travel, except one trip there, and other indirect expenses with non-ministry funds,” Jill and Derick’s most recent mission trip update reads.
“Your sacrificial giving is going directly to the mission! With Christ as our example, we want to help both the physically and spiritually destitute.”
According to the Duggar Family Blog, Jill Duggar and her husband have not shared an exact date for when they plan on returning to the mission field, but they have said that they’ll depart sometime in the fall. Winter will officially arrive near the end of December, so if they really are going back, they’ll likely do so this month.
Jill and Derick have tried to reassure their fans that they’re not just sitting around and raking in donated money during their lengthy vacation from the mission field. According to the couple, they’re taking Bible classes so that they can “be more equipped missionaries.” Derick has also said that he’s “working a number of jobs” to support his family.
Jill and Derick are living in the Duggar family’s huge, two-story guest house while they’re back in Arkansas, so that’s one less expense that they have to worry about. It’s unclear whether Jill and Derick are using donations to pay for any other living expenses during their stay, and the reality show stars have not revealed how much of their Counting On paycheck is going toward their mission work.
As the Duggar Family Blog reports, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard partnered with S.O.S. Ministries when they decided to go on a long-term mission trip, and S.O.S. Ministries provided the house in El Salvador that they’re currently staying in. It’s unclear whether Jill and Derick receive any funds from S.O.S. Ministries.
S.O.S. Ministries will be taking a mission team to El Salvador for a week-long Christmas Trip on December 10. This is a possible date for Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s departure from Arkansas, and they may take a few members of Jill’s family with them when they leave — the annual El Salvador mission trip is one of the Duggar family’s Christmas traditions.
Derick Dillard has said that he won’t take his family back to El Salvador if Jill Duggar gets pregnant, so if the couple doesn’t leave sometime this month, fans should expect a baby announcement just in time for the January premiere of Counting On Season 3.
