Underlining his super league status in Hollywood Robert Pattinson has just “signed a mega-deal” to be the face of Christian Dior’s line of men’s fragrances.
As announced by E! News , the deal is reportedly worth nearly $12 million and will see the Brit actor feature in a range of advertisements for the French fashion house over the next three years.
“Rob likes the brand,” a source told the site.
Although rumored as a possible face for Gucci, the news is perhaps not so surprising considering Pattinson wore Dior Homme on the biggest day of his professional life at the Cannes Film Festival for Cosmopolis’ premiere in May.
Joining the ranks of Dior ambassadors past and present — Jude Law, Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman (recently dragged into controversy over her Dior mascara commercial) — the 26-year-old will bring his own unique style to a buoyant brand.
Grazia Daily UK is reporting that the actor will shoot the first Dior ad this week in his home town of London. The shoot will apparently be themed à la Moulin Rouge and shot in black and white to reflect Dior’s “classic and timeless” appeal.
If Grazia’s sourcing is solid, the shoot will need to wrap quickly. Pattinson is scheduled to take part in a L.A press junket for Breaking Dawn — Part 2 on November 1 along with the rest of the cast.
After the ridicule heaped on Brad Pitt’s recent philosophical-lite television commercial for Chanel Number 5 , it is to be hoped Pattinson’s Dior gig will be better received. And, of course, there will be plenty of high profile dates for the Brit to be seen at.
The promotional tour for The Twilight Saga’s finale installment is already well underway, and after a recent press blitz in Australia the actor will shortly hit the talk show circuit, kicking off with Jimmy Kimmel Live on November 5.
With Kristen Stewart as the current face of Balenciaga fragrance and now Dior for her beau, it will be a seriously stylish couple walking the red carpet at the upcoming Breaking Dawn — Part 2 premieres.
