Saturday Night Live: WWE’s John Cena Will Host ‘SNL’ In December
For fans that have missed John Cena on WWE programming recently, they’ll get a chance to see the 15-time world champion in prime time very soon, as Cena is slated to host Saturday Night Live later this month.
After Emma Stone hosted the December 3 edition of SNL, John Cena will host on December 10. As reported by the Orlando Sentinel, Casey Affleck will be hosting SNL on December 17, the final episode of the year. It will be the first time that Cena has hosted SNL, but not the first time that he’s been around Lorne Michaels and the comedy he’s associated with. From movies to sitcoms to talk shows, John Cena has proven that he can deliver a joke when needed.
In 2009, he made a brief appearance on Saturday Night Live as a security guard at 30 Rock. But this cameo appearance didn’t give Cena the opportunity to truly shine as a comedic actor. In 2015, he played Amy Schumer’s jock boyfriend Steven in Trainwreck, and his few scenes were enough to prove that he was a viable actor.
Later that year, Cena would appear alongside Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in Sisters as a tattooed drug dealer named Pazuzu. Although he had a limited role, he received high praise from critics, such as one review in The Washington Post.
“Cena’s comedic gifts — like those of Dwayne Johnson and Channing Tatum, who are also in that very-low-body-fat boat — prove that to build your muscles you don’t have to shrink your brain.”
Cena had actually acted with Poehler earlier in the year when he made an appearance on Parks and Recreation. On a very Chris Pratt-centric episode in Season 7 called “The Johnny Karate Super Awesome Musical Explosion Show,” Cena made an appearance as himself on a show within the show, subjecting himself to Andy’s fanboy reaction, a pair of handcuffs and a dunk tank.
The fact that Cena will be hosting SNL probably means that fans will be treated to Cena as a guest on both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, which he has done several times in the past. He’s appeared on Late Night a total of times (five times with Conan O’Brien, four with Fallon and once with Meyers) and twice on the Tonight Show since it was taken over by Jimmy. Known for playing silly games with his guests, could John Cena challenge Fallon to a rematch at Sticky Balls?

Lately, Saturday Night Live and Alec Baldwin have been drawing the attention of President-elect Donald Trump. This week’s episode was no different, as Trump responded to the show almost immediately.
Just tried watching Saturday Night Live – unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can't get any worse. Sad

Obviously, anything Trump does this week will potentially end up on SNL as Cena guest stars for the first time.
