Pregnant Amanda Seyfried Channels Her Inner ‘Mean Girl,’ Says, ‘I Can Smell The TV’ [Video]
Amanda Seyfried, the adorable actress of Mean Girls and Jennifer’s Body fame is pregnant; the 31-year-old starlet is expecting her first child with fiance Thomas Sadoski. The news of Amanda’s pregnancy was just announced this week, and apparently it is causing some truly unusual symptoms.
As Fox News reports, a pregnant Amanda Seyfried spoke about the weird thing she’s been dealing with during a recent interview with Refinery 29. In truth, what Amanda claims to be dealing with sounds like something straight out of Mean Girls and her character Karen Smith’s struggle with an inexplicable “fifth sense.”
In the flick, Amanda Seyfried’s character had breasts that could predict the rain. Or, at least, tell when it was already raining.
In real life, the blonde stunner has a different complaint, and it’s related to an almost superhuman sense of smell. According to Seyfried, she can smell everything. Even, strangely enough, the TV.
“I swear to god I can smell the TV. There’s this static-y, metal-y scent. Do you know what I’m talking about?”

Okay, Amanda.
According to the star, her newly ramped-up sense of smell is directly related to being pregnant, and while it’s strange, at least it’s not making her sick. In fact according to Amanda Seyfried, “nothing” is making her sick, at least not yet. However, the newly pregnant woman does admit that her now notable nose is deeply offended by at least one smell. A smell that Amanda says she used to be able to live with, but now that she’s pregnant she “cannot tolerate.”
To her credit, the smell that’s wrecking havoc with the pregnant Amanda Seyfried is one that can destroy the nostrils of anybody, anywhere, and without warning.

Amanda says that the smell that has become Kryptonite to her pregnant self is the scent of body odor.
“The only thing I can’t tolerate is body odor. Normally, it’s fine. I know it’ll pass or I can leave the room, but I cannot tolerate it anymore. I have a hard time with that.”
Apparently, while the smell of B.O. has become intolerable, it’s something that the pregnant star can escape if she’s unfortunate enough to encounter it. It’s a little bit harder to run away from all of the TVs out there; they’re everywhere.
Not every smell has become a burden for the pregnant Amanda Seyfried. In fact, some smells have reportedly gone up a few rungs when it comes to how delightful she finds them. Mainly, Seyfried says that she’s now in love with sweet smells, the sugarier the better.
“There’s something comforting and cozy about [the smell of] something baking or something sugary.”

In fact, if Seyfried can’t find something baking and fabulous in the real world, she’s not above recreating the desired aroma to placate her pregnant nose. According to Amanda, her trick to surround herself with the smells she loves (and possibly drown out that pesky TV odor) is scented candles. Namely, the Yankee variety.
“I love those Yankee candles, [in] buttercream frosting or angel food cake. I mean, who doesn’t put a vanilla-scented candle out in their kitchen? [Those scents] relate to the child in me, which will live on forever. That’s also probably the pregnancy talking; I’ll blame it on that.”
As USA Today reported, the news that Amanda Seyfried is pregnant came as a bit of a shock to the world when she broke the news (and displayed her cute, tiny baby bump) earlier this week. After all, Amanda and her fiance have only known each other since March, and have been engaged since just September.
Even so, Amanda Seyfried hasn’t been shy about wanting kids and feeling her biological clock ticking away. She spoke out about her maternal feelings in a 2015 interview. At the time, she was dating Justin Long, not 40-year-old Sadoski. Either way, being pregnant and having a baby was definitely on Amanda’s mind.
“I keep feeling like my eggs are dying off. I need to get on it…I want a child. Badly. I want to be a mother, badly. That’s what I feel. I’ve been feeling it for like, two years. I’m not ready but nobody’s ready. It changes everything…so how can you ever be ready for that?”
While Amanda Seyfried has publicly confirmed that she’s pregnant (and smelling TVs), there’s been no word on how far along she is or when her due date might be.
