Gwen Stefani isn’t happy about Miranda Lambert’s new album, The Weight of These Wings . The album is Lambert’s first since her divorce with Blake Shelton and Stefani can’t stop obsessing about the country star’s latest offering. The only problem is that Shelton won’t let her listen to it.
An insider told In Touch Weekly that Shelton doesn’t want Stefani to listen to Lambert’s work while he’s around. Instead, The Voice coach wants her to wait until he goes back home to his ranch in Oklahoma.
“She hasn’t listened to it yet because Blake is currently living at her house in Beverly Hills while he’s taping The Voice in LA,” the source claims. “And he has a rule that Miranda’s music isn’t played — ever.”
To make things worse, some of the tracks in Lambert’s album are about her divorce with Shelton and his romance with the No Doubt alum. This includes the song, “To Learn Her,” in which Lambert slams Stefani by singing, “She’ll be happy, you’ll be sorry/Well, that’s just how it works.”
To add to the insults, Stefani’s newest album didn’t earn as high as expected while Lambert’s is crushing sales.
“It has to be very hard for Gwen because Miranda is an absolutely beloved artist who is a household name all over the country,” the insider added.
According to the International Business Times , Lambert has been quiet about her latest work. In fact, the country star refused to give interviews to promote the album and is hoping the music will say it all.
“She wants to be over with it, it hurts thinking about it because what she had with Blake was amazing and the fact that it ended the way it did is sad and she doesn’t want to think about it,” a source explained.
Shelton and Lambert were married for four years before calling it quits in the summer of 2015. Shelton quickly moved on to Stefani, whom he started dating in November of last year, while Lambert is currently dating singer Anderson East.
Lambert has other reasons for not talking about the influences behind The Weight of These Things . Celeb Dirty Laundry claims that Lambert thinks her album will sell better if she doesn’t talk about the divorce.
The singer apparently believes that Gwen Stefani’s album didn’t sell because of all the hoopla surrounding her romance with Shelton. She also thinks Shelton’s career took a hit because all the added coverage drew everyone’s attention away from his music.
Indeed, Shelton and Stefani have been very open about their romance. Upon the release of their new albums, they both gave interviews and dished about the various things that motivated their works. This includes opening up about their emotional divorces.
With Lambert’s romance with East starting to really heat up, she doesn’t want to suffer the same fate. Considering how East co-wrote a few songs and sang backup on one of the tracks, this is probably a wise move.
“I don’t want to do any of it. I want the music to speak for me,” a source claims Lambert said. “By not doing the interviews, [Lambert] doesn’t have to explain anything, including the Blake situation.”
So far, In Touch Weekly reports that Lambert’s tactics are paying off . The album dropped two weeks ago and critics are already raving about its success. For Stefani, the songs are a painful reminder of Shelton’s former love.
“With Miranda’s album making news like this, it’s a constant reminder of Blake’s past with another woman — and how she’s just on an entirely different level than Gwen,” a source told the outlet.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have not commented on Lambert’s latest album.
