Trevor Noah Debates Tomi Lahren Over Black Lives Matter Movement On ‘The Daily Show’
Trevor Noah, the host of “The Daily Show,” invited popular conservative Tomi Lahren to cordially debate opposing stances on the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement last night. Noah has hosted the show for over a year now, and has debated an array of topics from medicinal herbs to abortion and other civil rights matters. He is a very educated man, with an expressive response to many world issues.
During yesterday’s debate, Lahren was openly on guard stating that she was “in the lion’s den.”
Before Trevor Noah debated Tomi Lahren, he played a short clip of Lahren’s show, “The Blaze.” In a section of her show entitled #FinalThoughts, Tomi Lahren rants over the day’s occurrences. The clip began with Tomi immediately insulting people protesting Trump’s election, calling them, “crybabies with nothing better to do than meander on the streets with their participation trophies and a false sense of purpose… misfit babies formed from every failed movement all sandwiched together to become the largest group of whiners in the country.”

She continued slinging insults at various groups of protestors, including #OccupyWallStreet (calling them brats) and #BlackLivesMatter. Lahren asserted that the Black Lives Matter movement is a “militant and overtly aggressive” group of people.
Once the clip concluded, the confidently hostile Tomi seemed quite nervous, apprehensively saying, “Pretty much covers it, doesn’t it, Trevor?” It was evident that Lahren was a bit uneasy being faced with her verbal vomit, and Trevor did not allow her much time to breathe before asserting his main inquiry asking, “Why are you so angry?”
Given that Tomi Lahren is widely known for her barebones, angry rants, it struck laughter into the crowd when she denied being heated, stating that some things “just need to be said.” Noah quickly fired back with a witty response.
“It’s like Ellen saying, ‘I don’t like dancing.’ It’s like, yea you do, Ellen, you do.”
Throughout the segment, Trevor Noah debates Tomi Lahren’s standpoint on several issues, but the two mainly stuck to the fiery issue of racism in our country. “For somebody who is not racist, you have to spend a lot of time saying “I’m not racist.” As time has passed, conservatives have painted a blatant separation of race and class. Trevor had no reluctance pointing out that barrier by asking yet another poignant question.
“If I march in the streets, people say I am a thug. If I go out and protest, people say it’s a riot. If I bend down on one knee, then it’s not – What is the right way… What is the right way for a black person to get attention in America?”
Trevor Noah debates Tomi Lahren on this point for over three minutes, and she provided no clear answer to his question. She only rants on for those minutes stating her grievances with almost every form of protest allowed by our nation’s constitution.
The point is that Trevor Noah slain Tomi Lahren with clear and concise arguments throughout the debate. Again, ignorance was uncovered in a well-known conservative voice. In the spirit of fairness, Trevor’s invitation to Tomi was to give conservatives a chance to air their stances with an equal opportunity on an openly liberal television show. It has been recently suggested that liberals like Trevor Noah are not presenting a bipartisan spectrum of thought, so Noah obliged the masses. It is not his fault, nor the result of any fancy editing, that Lahren came off as ignorant and ill-prepared to debate her point of view. Better luck next time, Tomi!
