Bill Goldberg shocked the WWE Universe when he came into the Survivor Series and bested Brock Lesnar in just two minutes. On the most recent edition of the Ric Flair Show podcast, Flair said he was among the people completely shocked by the quick victory .
Flair also said that it wouldn’t be a bad idea for the WWE to keep pushing Bill Goldberg and have him win the Royal Rumble match and main event WrestleMania in 2017. Flair pointed the momentum that Goldberg has built up and the fan reaction to everything he has done so far in his WWE return.
Bill Goldberg already announced that he was going to compete in the Royal Rumble match, and then this week on Monday Night Raw , Paul Heyman said that Brock Lesnar was going to enter as well to seek revenge. Of course, for those with a short memory, this is a repeated storyline from the last time Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar feuded.
Fans might remember that Goldberg fought Lesnar in one of the most infamous WrestleMania matches of all time. Goldberg was leaving the WWE to retire and Lesnar was leaving to try out for the NFL. The fans turned on both men and booed them both during the match.

What many WWE fans might not remember was that part of their feud was set up during the Royal Rumble. That year, Brock Lesnar was the SmackDown world champion and was feuding with Hardcore Holly. Lesnar won the match and then the Royal Rumble match took place with Goldberg as the 30th entrant.
Goldberg was running wild, eliminating Nunzio, Charlie Haas, and Billy Gunn. He turned his attention to Big Show and that is when Brock Lesnar ran in and attacked Goldberg, allowing Kurt Angle to eliminate him. This is what led to the WrestleMania match between the two men.

Now, the question remains as to what the Royal Rumble will lead to. The big rumor is that Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar will get a second chance to compete against each other at WrestleMania and hopefully the fans will give it a chance this time. Of course, this match is not as noteworthy because, even if Lesnar wins, Goldberg is still up a win.
Originally, there was the idea that Brock Lesnar would face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania . This was set up at the SummerSlam event in August when Lesnar beat Randy Orton by referee decision when he beat Orton into a bloody mess. Shane McMahon came down to stop the beating and Lesnar hit the F5 on Shane.
Now, Ric Flair feels that Bill Goldberg should win the Royal Rumble , which would give Goldberg a WWE title match at WrestleMania . That means that, if Goldberg vs. Lesnar is in the cards, then Lesnar needs to win the title back.
“With the momentum he has; I mean, Brock did him the biggest favor I have seen in this business in a long time. I mean, really, think about it. He just beat Brock Lesnar in a minute and 26 seconds, and convincingly.”
Of course, the biggest rumors are that the two men will cause each other to get eliminated and then end up battling the third time at WrestleMania . When asked about Shane McMahon, Ric Flair said that the big money was in seeing Shane battle Triple H at WrestleMania .

As for the world title, the big rumors now indicate that Undertaker will battle A.J. Styles after the Dean Ambrose feud ends in December. Undertaker could win that match, which would lead to the return of John Cena and possibly a career vs. title match and one of the biggest Undertaker matches since Shawn Michaels retired.
However, Variety reported that John Cena will be taking time off again in 2017 to make a new movie . The movie is called The Pact and there are rumors that the WWE might not be willing to put the world title on Cena just for him to leave again.
