Ryan Gosling Drops Out Of Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘Logan’s Run’ Remake

Ryan Gosling has decided to drop out of the proposed Logan’s Run remake, according to Cinema Blend. The project would have reunited the popular actor with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. For the time being, it would seem this particular remake is off the market.

However, all is not lost. Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn are still reportedly working on a Thai-boxing movie called Only God Knows. Fans of the pair’s previous collaboration at least have one project to keep their eyes on.

The fate of Logan’s Run was revealed in a recent tweet by Variety writer Justin Kroll. “Rough news for those LOGAN’S RUN fans, I can confirm Ryan Gosling is no longer attached to the project,” he wrote. It’s currently unknown why the actor has decided to drop out of the film.

As Indiewire points out, the actor has a number of projects on his plate as it is. In addition to getting his directorial debut off the ground, Gosling is also rumored to be working on a picture with Crazy Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. In other words, the guy may not have the time to fit Logan’s Run into his life at the moment.

Although the pair may not be working together on the sci-fi remake, Gosling and Refn are still apparently good friends. During a recent interview with the Evening Standard, the acclaimed filmmaker said he would help out Gosling should he need assistance on his forthcoming directorial debut.

“I will give him advice if he wants me to. I told him if he wakes up in sweats at 5 am on the morning of shooting to call me,” Ref explained.

Ryan Gosling’s crime drama Gangster Squad, meanwhile, will finally hit theaters on January 11, 2013. The film, which finds LAPD officers battling the East Coast Mafia, also stars Emma Stone, Sean Penn, and Josh Brolin.
