Sherri Papini Update: Missing Mom Found ‘Chained’ And ‘Heavily Battered,’ According To Dispatch Recording [Audio]
Sherri Papini updates indicate that when the missing mother of two was found on Thanksgiving day, she was bound with chains and “battered,” according to a dispatch log made by officials relaying information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The information about Sherri’s condition was garnered from an audio clip of Yolo County sheriff’s deputies and public safety dispatchers, according to a report by the Record Searchlight.
The report indicates the audio recording is about 25 minutes long and a dispatcher is heard speaking about Sherri, saying the “CHP is on scene and is advising she is chained to something.” The dispatcher continued with, “CHP is advising she is heavily battered” and further noted the case was a “confirmed kidnapping.”

Sherri was found after flagging down a passing motorist at around 4:30 a.m. on November 24. Dispatch is heard on the recording asking for multiple units to respond to the location where Sherri was discovered along Interstate 5, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Later in the recording, officers are heard speaking about calls to authorities in Shasta County where Sherri disappeared.

The Sacramento Bee reports that besides the woman who stopped to aid Sherri, another woman said in a Facebook post created to help find the missing mom that she was unable to stop in time to help, but called 911 to report what she had seen.

On Friday, a day after Sherri was recovered, Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko appeared on Good Morning America and said Sherri was “…very emotional to be released and hear her husband’s voice, and then a few hours later to be reunited with him,” ABC News reports.

The sheriff also noted Sherri had only been at the location she was found for a ” very short amount of time.”
“Evidently one of the captors had dropped her off on a rural road near Interstate 5… She was able to flag down a motorist and that motorist summoned emergency assistance from the highway patrol, then medical responded as well.”
The sheriff said after gathering some information from Sherri about her captors, authorities are now looking for two Hispanic women armed with a handgun and driving a dark vehicle.

Sheriff Bosenko stated authorities will following up with Sherri to garner more information about what happened to her, but when they spoke to her Thursday, she was “emotional and quite upset, but elated to be free…”

Sherri’s sister, Sheila Koester, held a press conference November 25, noting how grateful she was to local groups Nor Cal Alliance and Shasta Support Service for handing out fliers that helped publicize Sherri’s case and getting her name and face out in front of the community.
Koester said, “I just know that getting her face out there was the best thing that anyone could do,” the Record Searchlight reports.
Local residents who helped search for Sherri also expressed relief she was found alive and safe. Sandra Oswald said Sherri’s discovery was “the biggest blessing” and now it’s time to pray for Sherri’s family as well as “her recovery,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

According to CNN, the location where Sherri was found is around 140 miles from where she vanished. She told authorities she had been bound, but was able to free herself from restraints.
Sherri was reported missing on November 2 at around 6 p.m. after going out for a jog around 2 p.m. that afternoon. She was seen last jogging alone on in Redding, California, according to WKAL 1450.
Sherri’s husband Keith Papini became extremely worried when he learned Sherri had failed to pick up their two children from daycare on the day she went missing, according to WKAL 1450.
