‘DWTS’ Pro Mark Ballas, Singer BC Jean Wed In Small, Private Ceremony Exactly One Year After Engagement
Dancing With The Stars professional Mark Ballas married his fiance BC Jean after the two were engaged nearly one year earlier, multiple media outlets have reported.
The couple wed in a small, private gathering with family and friends at a site just outside of Los Angeles, People reported. Approximately 160 individuals attended the Friday evening ceremony, including current and former Dancing With The Stars pros Derek Hough, Julianne Hough, Jenna Johnson, Hayley Erbert and Sharna Burgess.
Mark Ballas and BC Jean — whose real name is Brittany Jean Carlson — were engaged last year just before Thanksgiving, the article reported. After the news was leaked in January, the Dancing With The Stars professional dancer has constantly filled his Instagram account with pictures of BC Jean proclaiming his love and desire to marry the singer.
Mark Ballas has also spoke glowingly of the wedding for weeks, according to the article. The Dancing With The Stars professional recently told People that he had been dreaming of this moment for most of his life.
“It’s a wild feeling. Your wedding is something you subconsciously prepare for your entire life. You wonder who it’s going to be with, where it is going to be and how the ceremony and reception are going to be. Now it’s finally here and happening. It’s surreal. I just want to soak it all up because I just know I’m going to click my fingers and the whole evening will be over and I want to make sure I enjoy it.”
Former Dancing With The Stars profession Derek Hough served as the best man for Mark Ballas. The six-time DWTS ballroom champion took time to announce the wedding and his role on Instagram just before the couple said their nuptials exactly one year from the day Mark Ballas had asked BC Jean to marry him.
With so many close friends and family members in attendance, Mark Ballas took time prior to the ceremony to recognize the significance of having friends and family surrounding them for their special day, according to comments he made in the People exclusive.
“I’m so grateful so many family and friends were able to travel here to celebrate our wedding. It’s going to be a night of amazing moments.”
In addition to their romantic attachment, Mark Ballas and BC Jean also served together in a band. The two had toured when the Dancing With The Stars professional’s schedule permitted. Mark Ballas and BC Jean toured under the name of Alexander Jean and had performed several times already this year, according to their website.
Mark Ballas took off Season 23 of Dancing With The Stars to focus on his run as Frankie Valli in the Broadway production of Jersey Boys. Ballas recently told Entertainment Tonight that despite the busy schedule had kept, the wedding planning was in full force.
“She’s been looking at tablecloths, settings and plates and dishes and the cutlery and what cocktails we’re having. She’s been Facetiming me in all of it. It’s amazing. It’s coming up really quick, so it’s great. I try not to get overwhelmed. I just take each day as it comes and I’m blessed and honored right now.”
BC Jean is also able to lay claim to her own piece of fame. The singer and songwriter is the original talent behind the Beyonce hit song “If I Were A Boy,” a song that BC Jean wrote about a painful break-up she encountered after high school.
