WWE News: Randy Orton And Bray Wyatt To Win WWE SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles
When WWE Superstar Randy Orton joined Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family, no one knew how far things would go between the two, but now it seems that they are a unit to be feared. Some assumed that Orton would get involved with the Wyatts early and then turn on them shortly after just to get in the head of Bray like he’s gotten into the head of others. It is still assumed that this will happen near WrestleMania time, but for now, there is a lot to be done with the two.
Most notably, they will be facing off with American Alpha next week on WWE SmackDown Live to name the No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships that Rhyno and Heath Slater currently hold. The team that wins will go on to face the tag champs at WWE TLC, which is coming up next week as well. It has been reported for some time that WWE does want to put the titles on American Alpha, but due to their “rookie” status on the main roster, they’re trying to use them the best way possible.
According to Ringside News, there’s a good chance Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt win the tag team titles soon. The plan before was to put the titles on Alpha and have them work a program with the Usos eventually…possibly for WrestleMania 32. Now they may be trying to stretch that out. Most think WWE is doing this to further the Wyatt Family angle, where the two will hold the titles and eventually drop them before a match with Orton and Wyatt goes down at WrestleMania, which makes more sense than not.
The thought is that WWE would do the original Daniel Bryan storyline with Randy Orton instead. Bryan was actually set to be with the Wyatt Family longer than he was, he was even told as much. Bryan thought he would be with the family so much so that he got specially made WrestleMania 30 gear that was Wyatt Family-centered because he was not planned to be part of the event in such a big way originally.
Instead, he turned on Bray near the Royal Rumble period and the two would go on to have a great match at the event. It would actually increase love for Bryan because he did not appear in the Rumble match, upsetting many fans in the process but would find his way into the main event of WrestleMania. The thought is that whatever WWE planned to do with Bryan before all of this, they’ll do with Orton. That is why there seems to be a very slow build in all of this.
There were no plans to put the tag titles on them originally, but now it could work for them and help their storyline at this point. It also helps the entire tag division as having two major singles stars hold the titles only adds credibility to them. Keep in mind, Randy Orton has been an 11-time WWE World Champion and Wyatt has been a top singles act for a while.
While WWE sees Slater and Rhyno and how over the two have been as faces, the thought is that they are not taken seriously and are still just a comedy act. Putting the titles on Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt automatically makes the titles mean more. This is mainly due to the fact that they would have respect around their reign while Slater and Rhyno do not.
Orton has been a tag team champion before while Wyatt has never held gold on the main roster. He did have tag team gold in developmental, however. The idea would be for the two of them to hold the gold until American Alpha takes the titles from them. That very well could be before WrestleMania time unless WWE wants to wait on the Orton reveal until after, then Alpha could win the titles on the grandest stage of them all. It really all depends on where WWE wants go with the Wyatt/Orton storyline but it does seem gold is coming from it regardless for the pair.
