Tom Cruise Files $50 Million Lawsuit Against Life & Style Magazine
Tom Cruise has reportedly filed a $50 million lawsuit against Life & Style magazine over a report that the actor had abandoned his six-year-old daughter Suri. According to TMZ, Cruise doesn’t take this sort of speculative reporting lightly, and has decided to strike back by hitting the publication directly in its pocketbook.
Bert Fields, Tom Cruise’s lawyer, explained to the website that his client isn’t at all happy with the way he was portrayed in the piece published by Life & Style. As a result, he’s taking his grievances to a court of law. Should he win any money from the magazine, all of it will go to charity.
“Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She’s a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has ‘abandoned’ her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible,” Fields explained. “Tom doesn’t go around suing people. He’s not a litigious guy. But when these sleaze peddlers try to make money with disgusting lies about his relationship with his child, you bet he’s going to sue.”
Not surprisingly, Tom Cruise’s lawyer doesn’t have many nice things to say about the magazine that allegedly defamed his client. “These serial defamers are foreign owned companies with their global headquarters in Hamburg. They take money from unsuspecting Americans by selling their malicious garbage. Having to pay a libel judgment may slow them down,” Fields explained.
Tom Cruise’s split with Katie Holmes has been extremely big news since the divorce was announced earlier this year. However, according to the Business Standard, rumors have started circulating that Holmes might consider reuniting with her ex-husband if he decides to ditch Scientology.
“Katie is a sucker for the big romantic gesture. Tom swept her off her feet the first time around, and if he goes ahead and leaves Scientology for her, that would be seriously tough for her to resist,” an anonymous source explained.
